First order for me is to try and locate all available members of my linkshell so I'm not wandering around sending clunky tells to everyone.

After that, probably getting the leves out of the way so the timer can get going on them.

Probably just jump right in to leveling whatever class i actually decide to play first. Since i will have ruined any and all good things by playing in all three cities in open beta lol.

Are there airship or boatdocks to get to each of the starting cities?

After the opening sequence & the beginning walkthrough type crap I may wander around town talking to NPCs for story tidbits and hopefully sidequests & missions. I'll then either level pugilist a bit or find the nearest fishing spot...or perhaps level pugilist on the way to the nearest fishing spot...

You mean after we download the inevitable release day patch right? lol. I will probably be trying to track down friends and whatnot. It's going to be such a nutshow in the exp areas right off the bat anyways, so I may start off crafting.

I'll be making sure my Miqo looks exactly the way I want her to in-game before I settle in for years and years of staring at her. :P If she does, great. If she doesn't, re-create!

After that... Find my boyfriend's character. Unless he decides to start her off in Ul'dah. ;(

I think i'm just going to take a look around for a while. I have about 7 or so RL friends/family that are going to be starting up our LS. We'll probably spend some time just enjoying the view for a while, setting things up, and locating all the shops and stuff.

I don't think you'll find any fireworks, if LL is at all indicative of the other 2 starting cities.

I am however, looking forward to the Transcendence naked run to meet up with everyone. :)

^ this. My RL friends and I will all be on the same server so if I need to find them I'll pick up the phone. I want to wander around for awhile and get back that feeling of wonder I had the first time I wandered around in XI...and Ten and I have established that we are old folk and wandering aimlessly is something that old folk do Smiley: nod

Getting leves done as fast as possible to get their cooldowns started. Then get into fatigue status on physical and marauder so I can get started with marauder and lancer fatigues.

Yeah, sorry for the short /derail. Also, this time around, i think i'm going to actually level a craft. I tried to do it in xi, but it was mind numbing to me. At least they made it interactive this time around. Maybe it won't make me fall asleep while doing it.

In XI I leveled cooking into the 80s. Yes it was boring but ultimately profitable, though you always have people in your LS asking you to make stuff for them.

I'd be ok with making stuff for my LS. It means i skill up still, and help my friends at the same time. Plus, i can always ask them for mats. :P

It's not so bad, and definitely make them provide the mats. It just got kind of annoying when the same people ask over and over and they have no craft for at least a trade.

Yeah I got my cooking to 100+3 then it seemed like it was the most unprofitable craft at the time. Problem was, I was always giving stuff away and I never realized why i never profited... My own ignorance. But I made people happy!

I think I will waste my first 8 thresholds of "you know what" mining... and then I may just mine for the fun of it... never thought mining can be like this fun, it's like an addiction, I have withdrawal symptoms already!

Ohh forgot to mention! I'm going to mine!

Hate to burst your bubble but if there are actually fireworks in the game (haven't seen any yet...but that doesn't mean much) they would most likely be player made and would probably require a level of alchemy above that which you could not achieve on the first day.

I wont go into what I would do...kind of complicated and would probably annoy some of you anyway.

Of course, things like finding your friends and LS mates are important, but...

...the VERY FIRST thing I'm gonna do is..... KEY CONFIG.

The lack of key config in the beta was a HUGE put off for me. It was horrible.

I'm debating on whether to start up with crafting or gathering. I enjoy botany quite a bit, it could certainly be a good timekiller while I wait for my friends who didn't get the CE to start playing.

I plan to avoid Perfect Dodging all the NPCs 20 seconds after I gain control of my character. I also plan on figuring out how to get outside of my starter city in less than an hour.
XI was my first MMO, I really don't have an excuse for blatant stupidity this time around.
