Surplus and GuildlevesFollow

If this was covered somewhere else, I apologize but I didn't see it within all the hate threads about surplus.

I was wondering if anyone from beta can say if surplus affects the exp gained from the leves?

Example,if you are at 75% surplus and 25% exp gain, do you only get 25% of the total guildleve exp?

I was trying to see if I hit the cap, if I can still use the leves to advance the job while waiting for the surplus to reduce.

Yeah, except the current guildleve system is even more restrictive than the surplus system and it's frustrating because nobody is talking about it and whenever I bring it up I get rated down.

Is there another restriction other than the 48 hours cool down?

The fact that there aren't enough leves and you can only have 4 combat leves at a time. There's basically only enough for 20 minutes worth of gameplay every two days. Granted, they could always add more but I have a feeling they wont and unless they change the basic system you'll still be limited to 4 at a time and that 48 cooldown as well.

You're forgetting that Leves are not supposed to be what you do to level up.

Leves are what you do when you only have a few minutes, maybe an hour to be logged up.

No, that's just what everyone defending the system is saying. Nowhere does SE actually say that. Besides, the leves are so easy they would take nowhere near and hour to accomplish...20-30 minutes max to finish them all even at the highest difficulty a solo can do it.

And like I've said in previous threads, most people don't want to grind to level...it's a serious mistake if this is SE's plan.

Its sad there is such a large cooldown, but on the bright side at least they don't eaten way to surplus

I am trying to find that silver lining, if I squint really hard, and tip my head just so to the right, I can just about almost see it ;)

Q: Can you tell us a bit about the game?

Hiromichi Tanaka: There are two unique points to Final Fantasy XIV. One is Guildleve – the lead quest that you tried earlier on. This guildleve system allows people to try out, or get rewards or level up certain skills they have, in a very short time – like 30 minutes. So even if you're a solo player, or playing in a small group, you can still manage your time very efficiently and level up your character in the way you like.

Personally I would thing that at least 50% of the people trying out FFXIV have in some way tried FFXI in the past and are expecting to a big degree a similar system. Now I didn't try BST but if you played FFXI and liked it then grind will be second nature. Even if you don't like it you know it's something thats got to be done!

I'm being 100% serious when I ask if kenage's answer is correct since the thread started talking about bunnies and then I got kind of lost. Regardless of surplus you will indeed still get the full reward of Guildleves?

Well, at the time that was stated one could have said that it's only stating that that is what the guildleve system allows, it doesn't say it's only meant as a supliment or that is it's only purpose but knowing that there is actually only 30 minutes of content you may be right. In which case I wont be playing...shame...well, I'll at least stick around for open beta...maybe you're wrong.

I thought guildleves only gave XP from the mobs killed, not from the actual completion of the guildleve?

Correct. Also, depending on a lot of factors, including how much you did during any given battle during any given leve, and depending on whether or not you activate Guardian's Aspect, that amount of xp would inflate. Of course, the difficulty of the leve plays a part in that too. But yea, you don't get xp for simply completing a leve, meaning if you're doing one with your friend and you didn't do anything but run after him, I don't think you get any xp (although i'm not sure about Physical xp)...hmmmm...gonna have to check that out when beta starts.

Uhhh not right, you can have up to 8 combat leves at one time. but you have to have access to 8 combat leves,
you get acess to more as you level up. but it doesnt really matter, since you could always go back and get new ones.

they will only allow you to turn in leves after the 48 hour cooldown has past, which is what actively prevents you from getting any more, since you can only have 8 on you at once.

you dont get any bonus exp from leves directly, they just alter the multipliers on the xp you recieve in combat. IE normally you might get 1000 exp, and roll 300 skill points, in a leve that would translate into say 3000 exp and 1500 skill points *not exact multipliers, just an example then you can use guardians favor to multiply it more.
Guardians favor recharges at a rate of 20 a day, and uses 10 for each buff, it lasts until you die, or finish the leve.

Surplus is still calcualted here, IE you will get enhanced exp, but it will also take enhanced surplus. It also counts in how fast you get surplus. so if you got hax exp and did your leves with friends, you would probably hit surplus just from doing leves in a week. though probably not max surplus.

It's not. You get MORE points/EXP from the mobs WHILE doing Guildleves. But as far as a direct EXP bonus from completing the Leve, no.
