I'm preparing for a fansite black-out till at least Friday. SE has said they're going to restrict the number of users allowed on and slowly increase it as time goes, which means forums are going to be loaded with "WTF I can't log in, this game is going to fail" posts.
They likely won't open the application page till tomorrow because of this.

My download says estimated time 26 hours so it's a good thing I still have 30 hours :)

I thought you had to sign up for open beta before august 15th at midnight if you wanted to get in. I assume tomorrow we'll get keys to update our accounts at least I hope so. I've been **** out of luck for beta keys so far If I don't get an open beta key i'm going to **** a brick

I thought that too. Taken from the NA twitter page.

The beta tester application period for FINAL FANTASY XIV will end at 01:00 A.M. (PDT) on Monday, August 16, 2010.

I imagine the Open Beta will be up and going for a day or two before that application becomes active. They'll probably want to get the servers stable on the new version/content with the current testers before they start accepting more people in.

They surely have unusual ways of doing things. It kind of makes them look unprepared.

Are folks confusing the "by the 15th" with this post from Thayos?

The current phase of testing, Phase 3, is scheduled to end at 5 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, Aug. 25.

People who are already registered and playing in the beta will receive emails in their Square Enix Accounts. The emails will contain new codes that can be redeemed in the same fashion as previous codes.

The current codes will become invalid because the codes are changing for the launch of the open beta.

We will keep you updated on this issue when we have something new to report. Until then, spread the word to register your beta codes before it’s too late!

You must not have been home when they called everyone to see what was most convenient for them. They're doing it at that time because it's during regular business hours in Japan. My math sucks but I believe it'll be 11 a.m. in Japan.

Probably more to the tune of 9am. I couldn't locate the sarcasm option in the tool bar. I guess it must be available for paid accounts.

Well I was under the impression that beta testers were going to have to use different beta keys which were suppose to come through email... I haven't gotten an open beta key yet. Am I wrong about that? Do us current beta testers not have to do anything for open beta?

I'm gonna get in trouble for this but. . . . why do we have to wait for logon ques before saying the game is going to fail? Can't we pick on the same OLD problems instead? ;)

Beta testers from 7\22 and before do not need to. I have a hunch the Beta Key accounts, as long as they were properly registered will not have to either.

Methinks I'm screwed...

I created an EU account because I got a German key... now, reading this again:

Quote:
One consequence of this is that members residing outside of the supported
territory (United States and Canada) will not be able to access their existing
North America SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS accounts, including MEMBERS Points, after
August 31, 2010, 2 a.m. PDT. New accounts may be available in your proper
territory. We apologize for any inconvenience.

An email from my NA account... I'm up a creek, methinks. I won't be able to enter the new key even if I get it. I won't get access to the EU site.

Craaaaap.

Or use the EU account and don't use your live game name.
I don't have an email for my EU account yet either. Its not great timing to take the site down a day before OB, should have done it over the weekend.
