I recently saw a post asking if there were any teachers going to play final fantasy XIV.

http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?game=268&mid=12832164838729384&page=1

That caused me to consider a fundamental query which I've been personally curious about for as long as I've played MMORPGS: Who are these people that play this game?

Breaking that down-- due mostly to the fact that the question is far to ambiguous to quench my thirst for information related to the subject-- I ask you, the ZAM forumers, this question: What is your profession?

Keeping the subject open to everyone, if your currently studying in college or still in high school feel free to tell what you hope to do as a profession in the future.

I apologize in advance. I assume this question has probably been asked many times before. If you'd like, please post links to other references to relating material on the subject.

I look forward to your responses!

----------------------------------------

I suppose I have to contribute; being the one who asked the question. I'm a nurse, I've been a nurse for a little more than a year, and I sincerely enjoy my job.. aside from cleaning ****.

I work at a phone support service desk. Company is HP, but we are part of a separate Department of Defense contract called "NMCI" To support the Navy and Marine Corps in the worlds largest private network.

I'm a Tier 3 Technical Lead. Basically people ask me for help when they need it. All I do is work, come home, and game. eat, repeat. rather simple life.

Ha, as far as me... I just recently graduated college with my Aerospace Engineering Degree. I have a job in the oil industry as an operations engineer. Yeah yeah i know, but the Aerospace industry is in shambles! and besides, the oil industry throws money at you. I had to ask the guy to repeat himself when he gave me an offer (not to brag, its just that the oil industry has so much money. i mean, right now all the upper mngment is freaking because we only posted 2nd quarter profits of 100million... i am pretty sure most companies would be having parties if they posted those profits). But yes, I sold my dreams for a nice paycheck... which i am kind of finding out was a mistake so I am currently seeking employment in the Aerospace Industry... even if job security in that industry isn't the greatest.

Some woman got her boob job as a tax write off because it had to do with her job. Which her job was a stripper or something. Pretty retarded lol. So maybe if you can tie playing FFXIV as a job expense then yes? LoL

I did my undergrad in biomedical engineering... was going to change careers and go into education (teaching highschool!) but decided to pursue a masters in biomedical engineering instead to do research.

However, as much as I enjoy biomed. engineering, I'm thinking of changing focus again slightly, and study medicine to become a physician... that is if I get acceptance to medical school (big if).

wow! thank god for surplus xp then huh?! lol jk. **** i wish i was genious enough to get into med school...i mean not that i would, I love engineering, but the brains required to even look at med school are insanely hard to achieve. At my uni the GPA required to have a shot to get in is 3.7 but typically the people applying are 4.0 so even if you have a 3.9 your chances are slim at best.

For the lack of an official title, my day job is: Library Manager. Although I do anything from managing circulation to IT.

I work as a Emergency Medical Technician, just recently finished my school and licensing exam for it :). I work three jobs in this field one full time and two casual positions just for extra shifts on my days off. Yep yep and believe it or not I got kicked off a guild in warhammer online because they said I needed to spend more time with the guild than at work some people really need to straighten their priorities out lol.

Great! Thought I was the only one. I'm in grad school though.

My school has a joint MD/PhD program that's 6 years. Lots of people do it, though I never got into research myself. Med school is definitely worth it, and very interesting, but I'll be damned if it isn't the hardest thing I've ever done. (Not everybody has as much trouble with it as I have, but that's my take on it.) Good luck though! The MCAT is stressful when you're preparing for it but once it's over with you can relax for a while. :D
