How would one go about getting one of these if they were not in the CB? I'm not finding anything that could be considered concrete information and SE's idea of a open beta is quite a joke. Any help?

That's what everyone's confused about, on quite a few different levels. Since the open beta is starting in less than 24 hours and other than being able to DL the update there's no other information accept "Stay Tuned!"

Am I the only one who read the front page and understood it as we all may NOT have our open beta keys come tomorrow at 7pm pst? It says people who got into beta 3 through website giveaways will be receiving NEW keys in the order they were activated. So I read that as we may very well be waiting an undisclosed amount of time for NEW invites after fighting to get the LAST invites that were only good for all of 2 days.

If I can't log into this game 21 1/2 hours from now, I'm gonna be *******

Indeed, that's the level of confusion that many of us Zam folk are at. I'm hoping it means either we don't need new keys or tomorrow's gonna be a really busy day getting those keys. The thought of us being locked out is a possibility I'm not willing to accept at this point = P

I know we're all confused, but I have to ask for people's opinions a bit, if they do send out new keys to us beta 3 people, would it be on our SE account or email do ya think?

There's no real need to send out new keys at all.. The accounts with beta access are already known. New keys would only need to be sent to people new in open beta

SE doesn't send me emails so yes this does concern me.

Yeah I read that... doesn't mean it makes any sense to do it.

Whatever, par for the course.

Thats the LOGICAL way of thinking... but this is SE we're talking about.
Anyway, the front page of the FFXIV zam site says those who manually entered in keys won during the beta 3 will be receiving new keys in the order they were activated which would also need to be entered in the way we entered the last ones.

And besides the fact that I trust zam's info, it only makes sense because the new beta testers aren't allowed to post on the forums. It's like we're all sharing one big guest account. And it's been said we won't even be allowed to VIEW the threads anymore. And I figure instead of turning off our ability to view them, they're gonna totally deactivate our keys and give us new ones with restricted access. That's the way I view it anyway.

For those who may have missed it:

Quote:
With Open Beta set to begin tomorrow, players are readying themselves for adventuring in the other two starting cities, Ul'dah and Gridania. There may, however, be one little catch for some players.

Those that entered Phase 3 with a beta key will need to take an extra step to continue testing the game. (Players that got into the beta through our first Alpha Giveaway or via Square Enix do not need to do anything)

As previously reported, all Phase 3 Beta Key winners that used their code before the end of Phase 3 Beta will receive an email from Square Enix at their Square Enix Account email address that will contain a new beta key for Open Beta. ZAM has received word that the emails will be sent in the order of key activation.

These specific Phase 3 players (and any subsequent players let into the Open Beta) will be restricted from viewing the Beta and Discussion forums on the Beta Test site.

Why cant SE just release information a few days ahead of time to prepare people and make them aware, they love keeping their community waiting in the dark. . .

From the beta test site...

At the following time, we will be performing maintenance on the Square Enix Account Management System. Please be advised that users will not be able to access the Square Enix Account Management System during this period.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

[Date & Time]
From Aug. 30, 2010 21:00 to Aug. 31, 2010 2:00 (PDT)
* Maintenance completion time may be subject to change.

Maybe this has to happen 1st to get the ball rolling?

Lets hope so. I mean, I'm usually a die hard rider for Square-Enix. They may foul up and drop the ball here and there... but I HIGHLY doubt they teased a big portion of the community with beta keys last week only to let us play for 3 days and then tell us we don't REALLY have access and make us wait another few days/weeks until we can access the open beta.

Any of us who got our keys in the last wave (I got mines the day after their little beta key server issue from fileplanet) will probably be fine. I hope we get them soon.

If it was up to SE, they wouldn't even tell us the price of the game or where to buy it; they'd hide copies of the game randomly throughout your local city. Once you find one, you'd then have to take it to a participating retailer. They wouldn't tell you which ones or where, obviously.

Having done that, you'll need to utter the code word. They'll give you a video to hint at what the code word is, but it's just 2 minutes of zooming in on the chat log. Good luck.

Hope to see you in Eorzea!

i have read quite a few theory posts stating that anyone who filled out a beta application
on the main site will be receiving beta keys in their email tomorrow. There is no proof backing
any of these posts but it sounds like as good a theory as any to believe.

Lol i love scavenger hunts ...
