It's on the official page, but it's only partially up.

So it looks like they ARE, in fact, adding payment options. . as well as possible medium for "micro transactions" ala facebook ;)

CTRL + in firefox to zoom in, sorry for the bad resize ><

Here's to hoping they don't go down that dark path.

The question is, are they gonna sell this in stores on a card that can be registered to your account [aka glorified gamecard] It'd be really cool though if you can buy this stuff and use it to pre-load gametime though,

If they were smart they'd do this. That would be the most simplistic way to do it for people that do not have a valid CC or debit card that works with the new system.

I'm definitely hoping so, other than that I don't kno what they would use crysta for and I definitely hope that they don't sell gil in attempt that they're thinking it'll prevent RMT problems.

This wouldn't solve it to be honest, I can see it now.

100gil 25% cheaper than SE!

But if they would do this Gil would lose it's value. RTM's would even go lower than SE and there would be a boom in gold, seeing how you also legally could buy it from SE. So the crossover to use real money on in game gold is even easier since its "allowed", making gil useless. Just check how WoW went from gold making. First game, 100 gold was a lot and gold takes hours of grinding.

Nowadays 100 gold is what you get for doing 1 hour of daily quests. :(

This is all speculation of course!

And SE's comeback: No other gil sales service can offer you 100% SECURITY. When you buy from us, there is no way of being exposed to any kind of web based data mining or flash installed keyloggers. When you trade in your crysta for gil, you're assured of a 100% safe and legal transaction.

True, but the common man is greedy and would even sell his own soul for the smallest advantage.

I hope this doesn't happen.
If this turns into another facebook game where you just purchase a victory... I might actually snap.

I dunno, "only buy from trusted sites" is a fairly standard mantra on the internet. It may not stop EVERYONE from buying from 3rd party sites, but I would predict it would stop the majority. After all, you're talking instant gil, no wait times, and 100% safe. It'd most likely keep 3rd party farmer operations too small to be much of an effect on the economy anyway. The way they designed the game around RMT countermeasures, it'd take forever to even START competing with SE if they launched a Crysta for gil service at release

SE has stated on more than one occasion that this is the crowd they want to draw into FFXIV. That's what worries me.

Me too, I mean it's fine that they want a large(r) playerbase but do not make the game another casual game. There are plenty of those already. I really hope there will be room for hardcore, I've never played 11 but from the stories I've read it would've been badass.

I'm between casual and hardcore, and I love to look for other stuff and players who achieved it. Gives the game a certain impossible grasp to some extend.

It's like walking by the most fancy restaurant and smelling the aroma's from all the top quality stuff the best chef's made.
It makes you drool and want to spend a moment dreaming about how you could eat there yourself.
But to do so you need a good paying job, which in turn you need a good education for. You do not see the government making changing so the average Joe can eat there everyday for the rest of the week. This would also make the place less attractive, because when I CAN eat there it would still be good food, but the food tastes just the better after a hard day of work.

If it's buy to win, I'm done too. Out of all of the things, this would be the deal breaker for me, everything else is hunky dory compared to buy to win, lol.

I'm confused. Tried reading other posts and using context clues, but I failed English like it wasn't nobodies business. What exactly is Crysta?

That would suck, I wouldn't see it happening though. I think with this new FF being much more involved, people who bought their way to the top(if that became possible) would probably be easier to spot, even more so if they suck at their class. Since the early part of the game is complicated enough I'm hoping for some quality high level & endgame stuff that would require good strategy & skill more than just having the best gear.

I'd consider using this Crysta stuff instead of a CC if I get the chance.

Oh I highly doubt that. I'm sure if it is gear it probably won't be tradable ingame or it won't be something that will make you better than the poor player. Maybe something like a warp stick? (not saying they have one but using it as a example)
