Im aware they delayed the beta, however in my email i still got an open beta breakdown.

===========================================================================================
In preparation for the official release of FINAL FANTASY XIV on September 30, 2010 and the early release on September 22, we will be starting an open beta test to help put the finishing touches on the game. We ask that all users who can participate in the open beta test apply from the following website.

1.Access the following URL.
http://entry.ffxiv.com/
* The page will become accessible starting at 19:00 on Aug. 31, 2010.

2.Log in with your Square Enix account and have a registration code issued.
* Depending on the access status, we may temporarily suspend the issuance of registration code. If you cannot have registration code issued, we ask that you please wait a little while before trying again.

3.Register the registration code you received by e-mail on the Square Enix Account Management System.
Click "Select Service" from "Services and Options" on the left menu. Select "FINAL FANTASY XIV" from the services available and then "Add a service account." Enter the registration code you've been issued and proceed to the end of registration.
===========================================================================================

was just curious if anyone else got this email? obviously its not the email with the code, as it explains, but if they sent this out, that has to mean the "delay" in the open beta cant be to long then eh? probably a day or two?

I got the email. I logged onto SE blah blah blah I don't have a reg code. Is it because they didn't issue them yet or am I missing something?

Also I tried to load the app and it errors out saying something about system 32... Any help is welcome...thanks

You'll need to fill out an open beta application to get a reg code... whenever the apps end up opening up. Those in the alpha or closed beta periods should be automatically getting sent codes from what it sounds like, but it seems like the "application" for open beta is more a formality of sorts to link your SE account and the beta code (as well as handle locking in your region).

The email says codes wont be released until you fill out the application thing on the square enix website, but its 'delayed' so no idea when its gunna be there. I just set the square enix entry page as my web browser home page so i dont have to keep checking until they actually release info on the application.

Not so sure. I've been in the testing since day 1 and the email sent to me specifically tells me to go to the website and register to grab myself a code. I assume they are considering this a complete separate test from the Alpha and closed Beta test. Although having said that its really confusing because SE says in the email I received:

Square Enix wrote:
As stated above, Open Beta Test requires a dedicated registration code and the login to Beta Test Site will become unavailable starting at 7:00 on Aug. 31, 2010 (GMT).
* Once the registration code is registered, you will be able to log in to Beta Test Site once again.

I know the times have changed, but that last bullet point seems to suggest that I will be locked out of everything XIV testing related until I have entered my acquired Open Beta code at which point I will be given access again.

However, when you go to the beta test site you see this spiel:

Square Enix wrote:
The FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Site can only be accessed by those who have been granted Beta Test accounts.

Which seems to suggest that I will have access as I have already been granted a "Beta Test account".

What I am doing, as with all SE announcements, is taking it with a pinch of salt and simply seeing what happens :)

I'm gonna chalk all of this confusion with the email up to really poor translation. I'm wondering if any of the folks in here that speak jp can get a hold of a jp version of this email. It seems to me like they write it in japanese, then copy-paste it into Babelfish to translate, and BAM send that sucker out.

Got the email, was very happy, until I found out it was delayed.

Why won't SE stop torturing us?

So what was all the urgency about people with beta keys for phase 3 needing to make sure and register them before the 25th or whenever? It's all so confusing. :\ I wouldn't doubt that open beta would require a different key, it just sounded like you guys would be provided them via some alternate means (automated or possibly semi-automated, simply requiring you to log into the members site in order to lock in your region before you get sent the key). Though I suppose it could be that way for everyone, and the only benefit the previous testers get is that you're guaranteed a spot.

I guess we'll find out soon enough what the deal actually is, whenever SE gets the open beta sorted and sends out emails again to all parties. ;) Thanks for chiming in with an excerpt from the tester emails, all I've got to go on is what people are saying, and especially if SE changes their minds about whatever, it's hard to keep up. ^^

I don't see why they can't allow the registration & release of OB codes. It's not like people can get on anyhoot.
