Talk FFXIV on ZAM's IRC ChannelFollow

#1 Aug 31 2010 at 9:08 PM Rating: Excellent
Posted a brief news story to remind and educate people about our IRC channel. Not only is it a great place for discussing FFXIV, but people can create their own channels on our server for their linkshells and communities.

Read the story here.

I dropped in there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. There were about 30 people in there, although only about 10 or so were active and chatting.

I greeted everyone, but no response. A couple minutes later I gave another hearty greeting...still no response.

But what annoyed me the most wasn't the lack of a response to my greeting.

For the entire 2-3 hours I was in there, the discussion was about homosexuals, gays, lesbians, transexuals, homophobes, etc. There was not a single word that was related to the game.

I'm sorry if I never logged back in again.

I must have been gone that day, never had the topic turn to that. While the game is down and nobody is playing, there tends to be some off topic discussions. If I'm in there, and the topic turns too explicit, you can be sure I'll redirect it.

Looking back at the active conversation before it died down last night the discussion was about open beta, races, jobs, etc. Seems fairly on topic.

Yeah, I'm sure the kids are in line when the teacher's around. :P

There's a saying in Thai: "When the cat's not around, the mice get jolly."

I must have missed that. It's a chat room, so sometimes it does get off topic. Usually there is an admin in there. Just PM them on IRC and see what they can do to keep it on topic.
