For those of you that played FF13, how do the graphics compare to FFXIV?

XIII: "ZOMFG!!! THERE'S STILL A CORNER OF THE SCREEN THAT DIDN'T EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!"
XIV: "Chill, bro."

XIII has pretty **** good graphics but there are some differences in art style and settings so its hard to compare the two for me anyway, but thinking of the one area in XIII that is a forest, i think based on that I will give a slight edge to XIII - of course, the linearity in that game loses it some points, so from that perspective XIV wins overall for me.

XIII had a few not-so-strong-points specially on the character and it's that the facial expressions and hair were so well detailed that things like fingers and the armpit tend to look bland next to it.

But environment wise XIII is still the better, the bestiary design was also great but we haven't seen enough of XIV to compare.

Ken

Edit: let's just say that now... it looks like an opinion about graphic quality and not something else.

FF XIII's graphics were pretty amazing, but i give the edge to XIV. It's a lot easier to make great graphics in a small, linear area, than it is to do it in a huge open world.

SE did both. That's pretty amazing in itself.

If there was one thing to say about FFXIII is that the graphics and (especially the UI) was awesome.

My Bad XD... sorry.

I tend to make those mistakes, I'm looking for the word to define a "catalog" of beasts, I thought is that but seems like it was way off ;P

Please advice me to fix it.

Ken.

Ninja'd :/

Perhaps you're looking for the term "Beastiary"?

Anyway the graphics in FFXIV seem a lot more, fantasy like than XIII for some reason. While I do find them stunning I'm worried there'll be invisible walls all over the place to conserve performance (although it still beats XIII because XIII just had plenty of -visible- walls)

Thank you so much for the new signature! :P But on topic, I never played FFXIII but I'm impressed with the level of detail FFXIV has. And the scenery makes for some beautiful wallpapers too.

EDIT: Fixed the signature.

The UI was 100x times better in FFXIII, XIV's is fugly.

FFXIII also has better special effects imo. XIV's tend to be a little tame, like casting a spell for example is quite boring.

On the whole the XIV definately has better landscapes.

Also keep in mind FFXIII = Offline game and FFXIV = Online game when comparing something like Graphics and GUI.

I'd like to second the opinions regarding these two games. I only got so far into FFXIII (to the point where everything turns to ice or some crap like that), so I obviously can't judge the entire game. Though what I played was... not quite enjoyable, what I saw was visually appealing. Seeing gameplay I enjoy and visuals that were already great before (not to mention the music) combined in FFXIV, it's really something to sit back and take in.
