multiple people have had the same issue, the client does NOT have a virus attached.

Disable your antivirus or windows security essentials if you are getting a "not allowed" message.

Just force it through, no worries.

yeah I had a crash so I turned off the option that notifies you before a program makes a change and then it was fine (Win. 7)

I heard that worked for Phase 3. Not sure if it will for the open beta or not. I would assume so, I don't see any registry entries after a very quick search.

ok one final question. thanks for all the help by the way the updater is all done now and it will let me try to sign in.

but when I do it says my name or password are incorrect. even when I try to log in at the SE site online I get the same issue. I changed my password so I am 99% sure thats not the issue, and when I try to create a new account it says there is already one linked to that email address. (that makes sense since I have an account, but why cant I log in)

if I try to log in from my phone I get a site is under maintenance message not the log in error so are the wires just crossed and no one can get in or is it just me?

Can you have them reset your password?

Oh, I see you already tried that. Might try calling/emailing their support.

I already did, thats how I am nearly positive that its not my passowrd. but if other ppl can log in at http://member.square-enix.com/na/ under the member log in area then its just me.

let me know if a few of you can log in there so I know if its me or not. and I can move ahead from there.

Ok, no response, so I'll try again in this thread. I am getting an installation error that forces me to redownload from 95% on the updater. At the end it attempts to install again, but comes back with the same error. I'm not using a torrent, I have all ports forwarded, etc., and I am running as Admin, and I have disabled MS security essentials. No idea why it will not finish installation, but I wnt for nearly 2 days just to get to the end and not be able to finish. I would appreciate any help I can get before an unfortunate accident occurs to my computer.

After I dowload it starts checking update files and I get error codes: 20619, 914, and 13. No clue what this means, but I have retried like 10 times now with seemingly no success.So... contact SE support? or am I just screwed?

The only thing I knwo to do is to try completely unistalling the anti-virus/spyware programs I have. I have turned them off even though I had them all deactiviated. I have actually had this problem with another mmorpg before and the only solution was a complete uninstall of those programs. I was then able to reinstall them afterwards. However, that doesnt mean it will work with FFXIV, but i can try as soon as I get home.

at this point I wouldnt bother contacting SE. I conntacted them 5 hours ago about the problem I am having and have yet to hear a single thing out of them. I know thats not to constructive but I am getting the feeling they are pretty backed up with complaints right now.

Even though I disabled MSE, the error kept happening.

Restart your computer, whereupon your anti-virus (or MSE) should detect the Virus:DOS/SSR.gen.

There should be a drop down box to allow it, then you must allow it 'again' at the bottom of the window. IT should have a shield signifying needing admin rights.

Click allow, then open up the beta client updater (right click, run as admin) then let it do its thing.

After it is finished updating, it should take you to the login screen.

Ok I got it to work!! Its extremely annoying that disabling MSE did not work. However, Completely Unistalling MSE did work. I uninstalled it, then finished the installation, then reinstalled MSE. Everything appears to be working. Confirming that I know I'm finished when it takes me to a SE Account Login, Yes?
