So I participated in the closed beta, and now waiting for the OB, but with my repeated browsing of the SE FFxiv beta site and downloading/patching the beta client, it's still telling me "i dont have services enabled for this account"

While I assumed my closed beta status would have carried over, I guess I was wrong, so I went to "add services" on my SE account.member page to add FFxiv, and it's still forcing me to enter a new key-code... Am I going in circles and trying to add a 2nd FFxiv account??? or is the steps accurate and they just havn't actually doughed out the keys due to their heel-dragging w/ the "critical bug" excuse???

From what I understand all closed-beta players will have to wait in line like all us scrubs :/. When open beta sign ups are available you'll get a new key and add it like you did the old one.

My only complaint thus far is the phasing towards "equal" play. The whining and the nerfing has graduated from particular talent/ability nonsense towards this new complete rewrite on what it means to be "balanced". If anything is going to kill this game its the sad state of people in general wanting things their way and only their way. Keep it up and we'll all be pansies with the same number of petals, thrown in an arena and told to pluck ourselves.

I'm thinking two things (as I'm in the same boat).

We will need to wait for 7pm tonight before our accounts go "active" This was the way it worked when we were invited by SE to do Beta. I got my Email on, say, the 11th, and my tester program started on 7/13. I wasn't able to log in until 7/13 at whatever time.

OR, we're all in the same boat and need to zerg the beta application site for a new key. SE really needs to stop being so vague about every **** thing.

I was in since the beginning of closed beta, where SE activated my account for me. Under my SE account now, I need a key to register for open beta. So, it is unclear whether SE will do it again or if I need to hit the open beta site for a key.

Im confused like the rest of you guys. However one thing I noticed on the regular SE site when I looked under recent services it still showed that I had beta so there may be a slim chance that once the Beta starts you might just be able to log right in. If that be the case that would be sweet. Otherwise Zerging the site may be the other less hopeful alternative.

You really just have to go to the entry.ffxiv.com page after 7 PDT and sign up to receive your new code through email. Doesn't matter if you had been a previous participant or not. I imagine that it's going to be "while supplies last", but I also imagine that they will have a crapload of new keys. Then you take your code and register it on your SE account. I don't understand why everyone is so confused.

Because of this:

Beta codes distributed through Final Fantasy XIV fan sites – including approximately 500 handed out through ZAM.com – will become invalid unless they are registered by the end of the current phase of beta testing.

The current phase of testing, Phase 3, is scheduled to end at 5 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, Aug. 25.

People who are already registered and playing in the beta will receive emails in their Square Enix Accounts. The emails will contain new codes that can be redeemed in the same fashion as previous codes.

The current codes will become invalid because the codes are changing for the launch of the open beta.

We will keep you updated on this issue when we have something new to report. Until then, spread the word to register your beta codes before it’s too late!

People who had a beta key were told they would get a new one automatically... which is why we were told to make sure we registered it. That is why we are confused.

I am kind of expecting that people that were in Alpha/Beta before could just login with their account at the entry, and it'd notice that you had access before and give you a new key regardless. The new people, like myself, will have to login and apply for a select amount of beta keys.

From the wording it sounds like they are trying to stagger the access so not everyone joins at the same time and kills the server. They'll likely give out a select amount of keys tonight, then put a hold on it until 12-24 hours later, where you can try and grab another set. They will repeat this process probably the first few days so people can update patcher, and slowly cycle players in.

But what do I know? I don't work for S-E so I can't give a definitive answer :p

Yea, this is what i was thinking, the entire getting key process is to slow people down so they don't all log in at once. As for this...

I don't think so because we need to register FFXIV into our SE account management system since we have nothing there anymore, so we'll definitely need a new key somehow - whether its mailed to us 15 minutes earlier or we have to apply for it I'm not sure.

If that's the case, I can only assume that the codes will be in everyone's email by 7 PDT. If not, its prob a mistranslation. Or it's old news that is overwritten by the current news, that says go to entry.ffxiv.com to get a code.
