So... we just wait?

I swear, SE had sure went out of their way to make this the most complicated Beta I ever experienced. Too much Cloak and Dagger stuff going on here. I want my OB code already!

So has anyone got this mythical email yet? I'm trying to register on the open beta application page but when I click the button to take me to the actual registration process, all I get is a blank white screen, doesn't even try to load.

EXACTLY

The most logical way to do this was just to extend anybody with beta access (via activation or code) right through to open beta.

But then of course we get all this literature from SE saying "Nope, you guys are screwed, get new codes"

SE Communication Fail.

Again

Well that would be a relief. As I kept checking my account history and it has beta listed and registered. So hopefully it can be trusted.

And just think, this is only a fraction of what it'll probably be like on opening day. I think I'm beginning to understand why the CE version is allowed on a week early now.

Wait... so I had 3 laptops, my tower, and my iPad all set to refresh the page on staggered 30 second intervals for nothing?

EDIT: Well... I went ahead and submitted anyway before I read this, so I hope this doesn't hurt me.

The question is: How long will it take for them to distribute the emails containing the codes to every closed beta tester? From what I gather, the new beta testers who just applied already have their key and can start playing.

Yeah that's what I initially read too.. but then (I wish I could find them now) there were all these news posts saying that anyone who registered with a key would need a new one. Whatever, as long as it eventually works and their new keys go out in some sort of timely fashion.

Thanks for posting this. I tried going to the link using the Chrome browser. It had the page but was missing the Sign up for Beta button. That had me confused for a while.

Next I tried Internet Explorer and found that the page where you agree to follow the rules had errors on it and again I couldn't press the final button.

Opened Firefox for one last try but it kept timing out trying to get into the site.

You saved my sanity and probably my clicking finger.

How does it say this at all? I see:

Which says if you have one that you never registered, to apply now, but if not they will send info shortly.

Or just not bothered with keys for those people. The people who already had beta access were known, they were flagged or had the service added to their account. It's a ridiculously simple database query to just continue all those people through into open beta with no need for additional shenanigans on their part or ours.

After that all they'd have to do is say "If you were in alpha or beta before, you're set to go on the 31st (became the 1st), if not you can apply for an open beta key on this day, a week beforehand and be ready to go on the 31st (1st)"

Would have been very very simple

I take that to mean that if you didn't register a code you acquired, then you should use it and then they'll tell you where to get your new one, which sounds silly because Phase 3 beta codes aren't supposed to work period?

That totally sounds like "the keys are in the mail" to me...but yea, if that old info was correct, they may be coming in order of when we registered our previous keys? So us giveaway folk would be @ the end...
