I did make a new thread for this, but since it's being discussed here

--Update from the site--

Acquisition of Registration Code for the Open Beta Test

We have an important announcement to the testers who have participated in FINAL FANTASY XIV Closed Beta Test.

Between 19:00 and 19:50 (PDT) on Sep. 1, 2010, an incorrect notice saying "Participants of closed beta test do not need to obtain new registration code for the open beta test." was being made on FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test Application Site.

Participants of closed beta test also need to obtain and register dedicated registration code for the open beta test. Please follow the directions listed in the mail "Guide to the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test," which was sent to the participants of closed beta test on Aug. 31, 2010, and obtain the registration code from FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test Application Site.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Awesome, isn't it?

The closed beta testers appreciate this message now that the damage is done and we missed our chance at getting a key. Shortly, you will be receiving an email explaining in detail where you can put that apology.

We apologize for any discomfort you may experience during this process

And I still fail to see the point or benefit in making people who participated in the close beta reregister all over again. All they managed to do is add to the load of people spamming their servers for a new code, so good going on that one SE. Your style of business and uh... 'management' (or lack thereof) are certainly unique to say the least.

Basically being in closed beta meant nothing for open beta since you had to go through the whole open beta process anyways lol.

Honestly, this whole experience literally could not have been worse.

Ridiculous. The Apply button could have shipped a crate full of Africanized bees to your house.

You're playing a dangerous game my friend :D. It seems that the people who are saying it's up were going to their browser history and resubmitting their applications. It doesn't help those who didn't push the apply for beta button in the first place.

EDIT: Seems the "It's back up!" thread has a link to the proper page, and it worked (after scrutinizing if this was a phishing scam or not). I just got my key.

Well I'm at work all day now, so I'll have to live vicariously through all of you and do my best to follow the drama from my phone.
I'll be putting my comp together after I get home, so maybe I'll be able to get a key and 'play' this weekend sometime. *crosses fingers*
