Here's my problem, in Firefox I am able to log into my Se account but when I check my email, no key? Am I doing something wrong?

At this point, one can't be mad about this whole mess. Starting to be a bit funny to me. Let's just hope open beta isn't just for a few days so those who have to wait til tomorrow to get keys have a chance to play.

People who were in closed beta and saw a message telling them not to apply because they were getting 1 in the mail can still be mad...

"Between 19:00 and 19:50 (PDT) on Sep. 1, 2010, an incorrect notice saying 'Participants of closed beta test do not need to obtain new registration code for the open beta test.' was being made on FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test Application Site.

Participants of closed beta test also need to obtain and register dedicated registration code for the open beta test. "

Thanks SE... no really, thanks.

I don't think we'll be waiting till tomorrow to get keys. The way SE has been we all get to wake up tomorrow and refresh a page for hours to finally read "We have reached our cap for applications for Final Fantasy XIV. We know it was supposed to be an open beta but we just wanted to test our servers. Turns out... they suck. Final Fantasy XIV will be postponed until March 2011 to be released alongside the PS3 version which we promised would release with the pc version so everyone who doesn't have a supercomputer can still play and not fall behind..." I can see a more formal writing of that BS happening...

I posted out of frustration with how SE has handled this whole affair. SE could have done a much better job with all of this.

I don't see this as a valid excuse for SE. Phase 3 key winners only got a few days of playtime after they delayed the keys for who knows how long. Then they tell ZAM that those who were in the previous versions of beta would get a free ticket into open beta. Suddenly they pull a 180 on us and say those users would have to re-apply for open beta if they wanted in. Finally we get to the current state where they totally botch even that part.

Wow, hmm...yeah I don't think those other people got told they had keys and then nevermind at the last minute...so that's not the same thing at all...interesting response though...

Enjoy it, because all of the non-closed players who have keys now sure are. :)

Guess there was a lot of pent up anger in all of that. Must've been all those times I rubbed it in that I got a B3 key that lasted 5 days...yeah...no wait, I never did that. Not sure what your problem is dude, but I was complaining about SE, and rightfully so. I said nothing bad about anyone who got a key tonight, I guess you've been dying to rub it in or something. I appreciate you choosing me...

I wonder if the "Server is busy" message is just a redirect. It seems to be awfully quick in telling me that its too busy to service my requests! Surely they'd use a customised 408 if it was truely a "I am too busy, sorry" message :S

Oh well. I am half tempted to leave the Open Beta well alone and play from retail release, so I can enjoy it that much more when it comes out!

Applications for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test have been temporarily suspended. Please wait until we are ready to accept new applications and then try again. --- Which translates to the following: "We understand you want to play FINAL FANTASY XIV but we derive a kind of sick masochistic pleasure knowing you'll spend your night clicking "Refresh" on your browser. Please remain at our mercy while we sit back, do nothing, and laugh at your misfortune."

I'm onto you, SE. I know a thing or two about reading between the lines... or reading into things. Whichever it is; this is a sick mind game.

Might be just coincidence but after trying several times with Firefox I switched to IE just to test and it worked on the first try.
I used the link the OP provided in the first post.
Good luck everyone. Keep it up. /em cheer

I just got a key as did my friend. Keep trying. I got the Server Busy error many many times. Don't refresh. Just go back to http://entry.ffxiv.com/na/index.html and keep hitting the Apply for Open Beta button until it gives you a prompt to enter in id/password. If you still get an error for Server Busy after that, go back to the entry.ffxiv.com/na site and hit the Apply button again. You will eventually go through. Good luck!

I'm in some kind of loop.

I have my key and I did everything what was said in the email, but when I click on teh tester link and log in, I get "The FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Site can only be accessed by those who have been granted Beta Test accounts.".

However, when I use the same ID and Password on the application site, they tell me that I have already applied.

Something is not right here.

Check which beta site you are trying to access. https://dev-eu.ffxiv.com is for Europe https://dev-na.ffxiv.com is for North America. If you got your beta key through the European Link then you have to sign into the European version site
