"50002: the proper options must be added to a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account before a character can be created. Return to the login screen and access the Square Enix Account Management System to add options"

Just curious is this is due to SE not properly connecting the account to the code (and making it impossible to get in) or just a congestion error.

I've had that error and was able to get in later. Of course I ran into a DirectX error after running around for about 5 minutes and haven't been able to get back in since... lol

Still getting that error. I'm starting to wonder if maybe some of the codes weren't properly attachedto the accounts.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

Yeah I think some bad keys might have been created when the servers were exploding earlier tonight.

What's worse I bet you can only get one key per account so we'll be SOL.

EDIT Still getting the same error message. I'm pretty sure it's the account that is hosed.

I made a new account and registered a key without error. Sure enough, I got in the game just fine.

Shame. I may try canceling the service and re-creating it with a new key, if possible.

Edit: Nope. Doesn't let you activate another service after canceling. Only lets you re-activate what you canceled. 100% screwed until SE fixes it.

It probably won't let you register a new key on the same account

After canceling and reactivating my FFXIV account somehow it had vanished the next time I tried logging in to FFXIV (it didn't even show an FFXIV account in my history, it was like it had never existed) I was able to make a new account using my original beta key. Wierd.

BAM I'm in woot.

EDIT, forgot I logged in to FFXI between fiddling with my FFXIV account in the account manager and the FFXIV account resetting and vanishing into the ether. idk if that has anything to do with it.

Something obviously screwed up on the server end when the FFXIV account was originally created though.

Regarding a Character Creation Error on FINAL FANTASY XIV

We have confirmed an issue where even though the registration of service account for FINAL FANTASY XIV has been properly done on Square Enix Account Management System, an error message saying "50002 The proper options must be added to a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account before a character can be created." may appear and unable to create a new character during the creation of a new character.

Investigation and recovery work is currently underway, but we ask for your patience as this matter is resolved.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

go to your square enix account page

click the tab on the right "select service"

click on "final fantasy 14"

click on the "options list"

click on "add new options button" near the top of the screen

go through the steps and select crysta as a payment option, you will get a 30 day discount which reduces price to 0, that will then open up a character slot in the game and you wont get the error.

iv'e just worked this out, please spread the word and help other people having trouble get in the game before you dive in yourself.

i hope this helped!

Yea see mine doesnt even have anything under the option list it says - This service account cannot perform any actions regarding options.
If you would like to use options, please enter a registration code from a commercial copy of the software and apply it to this service account.

However I have entered my registration code and it accepted it and says that its being used now. So with that being said wtf?

ok, so, I'm dealing with the same problem.

Is it basically just a 'wait for a fix' problem or what?

I'm registered, have two toons paid for, have the key, etc etc etc.

I've read the theories on a few forums, but none did anything.

Is it so hard to just fill out a few things and play the **** game or would that be too easy.

Such a waste of money/time.
