I feel as if I'm the only one who downloaded the client and when I tried opening it I get the message "Final Fantasy beta has stopped working" followed by "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly" I have no idea what's causing this or how to fix it.

Same here, I think its mainly because everyone tries to log at the same time?

Quote:
"Final Fantasy beta has stopped working"
is a computer issue, and has nothing to do with other people logging in.

That sure is odd then, because I was playing just fine earlier today. Now after the update my client crashes as soon as it is about to display the character selection screen. o.o;

Hi,

I can confirm I'm getting the same issue as you guys. :( The game was working fine before the last update.

Its really not a computer problem as I managed to log into the game fine before this update.
Also, I did get the lobby error quite a few times now anyway and before that as well, so again its not the computer

Yeh i guess we can pretty much conclude this aint a hardware/computer/client ussue..

Example, just now, my game diddnt crash, but i just keep getting the Lobby error.

I didn't even make it to a character selection screen or anything. Double clicking the client just gives me the error message. It would be nice if SE would let people know what's up.

Did all of you use a torrent program to download your update when the updater was getting stuck at 47.3%? I'm wondering if i messed something up when i did that... I'm having the same problem..

Getting the same error here. Just made sure my video card drivers and directx are completely up to date.
Also had no trouble logging into the game before the update.

@Maximus: I took a nap when the download took forever and maintenance was announced. When I came back to the computer it said the download timed out. Closed updater, tried it again, took a minute or two and yea...all done. Just that the game crashes ever since then. They killed their own game. Beta's over, let's go home. *chuckles*

Either run the executable with admin privalages or turn compatability mode on only 2 things i can think of which could really cause it

Never used the torrent, only the FFXIV updater. So I guess it happens either way, for some strange reason.

Let's get a bit more specific and see if we can find a pattern.
My setup:

CPU: Core2 Duo @ 3.16Ghz
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4800
Ram: 4GB
OS: Windows 7 32 bit

So all we can do is wait for another update. What a surprise...

Torches and pitchforks sure sound like fun, but ever since experiencing Gridania's beauty I just can't feel upset. Just sad a bit because I wanted to figure out more about mining and explore some after my nap. Well boo! =P

Oh oh, pattern time then alright:

CPU: Intel Core2 Quad 2.50 GHz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5770
RAM: 4 GB DDR2
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Ram: 8GB
OS: Windows Vista SP2 64 bit

and i dont think theres gonna be a pattern... i think they just keep breaking more and more stuff everytime they fix something else... i think it's down for everyone..

Having the same. its not computter related, far too many ppl with issues lol... I have a i3 with a GF gt320.

There servers are still not working as they should :S

Think that I'll wait a month or 2 to buy the game lol. Make sure I don't get frustrated over server issues.

SE posting updates? Like...fast and in time? When people are about to storm their headquarters? What a nice dream it must be~

In all seriousness though, I guess they are just as surprised as we are (uhh I hope so anyway), trying to fix the issue before making a big fuss over it. Besides, making a fuss, that's our part. On three....one....two....yea, ya know how it goes. ^.~

I entered my key successfully last night and was stuck at the character creation screen like many others, and was never able to get in. This morning I receive this error below. I emailed support, so who knows what error this is. I found some information about re-entering your key, but it was not effective.

Well I can tell you it's not always the update, my wife just downloaded the patcher and right when it opens it gives her the "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly". She has a G72GX laptop, which I know people have played on in CB. Right now she's updating Direct X, hopefully that helps if not guess we'll just have to wait and see if SE fixes it.

Good luck people..

I played the game a an hour now, and i'm giving up..

Running it in a window, at the absolute lowest settings.. my fps is quite low, at times decent but mostly very low. The mouse lagg is incredible.. its truely bad.

Everying is super unresponsive..

Then again, this was on a system that scored 2.000 in the benchmark, so what can you expect.

Guess ill keep track on this game come Launch, see if it suddenly maggically gets alot more responsive.
