Update on Server Populations/ChoicesFollow

#1 Sep 02 2010 at 12:46 PM Rating: Good
Obviously this isn't the be-all/end-all in terms of information, but from just a limited time with a poll up (see poll at http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/13160-what-server-will-you-play-on-poll-with-the-new-server-names/), there are a few things that are trending upwards.

1) Cornelia appears to be the unofficial EU server (though there are some reports that the JP have also earmarked this server for the unofficial JP server)
2) The 3 top servers so far are: Lindblum, Mysidia and Figaro, in that order.
3) FFXIV-Roleplayers.com appears to have chosen Lindblum as it's unofficial RP server, with either Mysidia or Besaid leading the charge for the "overflow" RP server (if Lindblum is full)

I encourage those of you that visit FFXIVCore to vote on the poll as to what server you'll be playing on to get a more accurate representation of server population.

One of my friends that got his open beta code indicated that Mysidia was the most populated server. I'm guessing that's the NA server of choice.

NA appears split between Lindblum, Mysidia and Figaro. Lindblum has a decent vote lead, but that could also just be the RP element. Mysidia has a smaller lead over Figaro.

FFXIV servers aren't located in different geographical areas like WoW's servers are. I'm almost positive all the servers are located in Japan.

I'm curious as to whether SE has stated if these would be the final server names or could they change the names again when the game officially launches. Anyone know? Thanks.

Since you can transfer your OB name and server to launch, they are probably the final server names.

- As long as the World you choose in the commercial release is the same as the World you choose in the open beta test, you will be able to transfer your character name. If you choose a different World for the commercial release, your character name will not be transferrable. For details, please refer to the beta test site

This is on the main page for getting the key for open beta... would assume these would be final... or how else could one choose the same server if they wanna carry their name forward

Correct. Nothing else carries over because there will have been changes to various settings at the least (often for testing certain things may be bypassed or accelerated so issues are able to be found quicker or more easily). If everything's not exactly the same at release then it doesn't make sense to move forward characters that were generated in an old version.

Beta's for testing the game and hopefully SE fixing the issues, not getting a head start on playing before release (though you do at least start to get accustomed to how things will work). :)
