Key Bindings - Arrows for movementFollow

Has anyone figured out how to bind the movement keys to the Arrows instead of WASD?

Actually, that's why I logged in tonight!

I figured out the problem with the system SE uses in FFXIV to rebind keys. They don't allow keys to bind to a key already in use, instead of clearing out the slot to which the key used to be bound. The trick is to use a temp key to swap keys around (like most programming languages would do to swap int values).

Example: I want to bind 'Num8' to Camera Down, but it is assigned to Movement Forward's secondary slot.

Solution:
1) Select Movement Forward's secondary slot, then hit 'Num.' (the period on the number pad).
2) Select Camera Down's primary slot (which is currently 'K'), then hit 'Num8'.
3) Select Movement Forward's secondary slot, then hit 'K'.

It's slow, it's tedious as heck, but it works. I had my camera controls bound to Num8, Num4, Num2, and Num6 after a minute or so.

Are you able to change it so that the arrow keys control the camera?

Haven't tried the strict arrow keys (like ARROW_LEFT), but I'll head back in and see what I can do.

EDIT: Unfortunately, the strict arrow keys are categorized under "Locked Keys", so I don't believe you will be able to rebind these. Sorry Smiley: frown

Good luck. All the inputs listed under the locked tab won't budge.

The trick is figuring out how to take them out of that group.

Config file maybe?

I want to assign the arrow keys to camera controls like in ff11. Or at least shift+arrow.

I hope they fix this. I work on a laptop and if I have one hand on the numbpad and other other on the camera keys I keep hitting the mouse pad and ******** everything up... Very odd configuration here...

You can bind the camera keys to the Home, End, Page UP and Page Down keys. That may help a bit. But yeah the arrow keys are locked out to wear they can't be changed.

I need to get one of those keyboards that's just an empty slab, and you can just position keys wherever you want, or something... :/

I might actually pick this thing up, and put it where I would keep my mouse while playing FFXIV, and just recreate the numpad and movement keys on it.
