Besaid Named Unofficial RP ServerFollow

#1 Sep 02 2010 at 10:23 PM Rating: Excellent
The Role-Play Coalition of FFXIV has named Besaid as its new home server! A total of 230 members voted in a 24-hour poll to come to a conclusion.

Check out this story which contains a statement from the RPC here.

I was hoping the unofficial RP server would end up being one that (in my opinion) had a "cooler" name, but eh.. I'll probably roll on Besaid then. I'm not much of an RPer myself, but in my experience RP servers tend to be a little bit more mature, generally, than others.

Cheers

Really of all the servers I think Besaid and Mysidia are the coolest. I guess I just like d's,i's, and a's.

Why is Trabia so unloved? Best FF game IMO.

I was hoping for Mysidia. Besaid is ok. I just don't like that it is Be+Said all that much. It isn't bad though.

My initial vote was for Mysidia, but I changed it to Lindblum when it came between that and Besaid. I guess it's just a server name, though Besaid certainly doesn't have the fond memories for me that some of the others do. X was a good game, not my favorite, and among the towns in X, Besaid was not at all one of my favorites. So meh. Meh, I say!

Anyway, look forward to seeing some of you on Besaid!

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

I will always say VI was the best, unless someone decides to throw chrono trigger into a FF debate...which is cheating, but you can't argue with it = P I liked VIII too though

Anyway, I made a new character on the Besaid server earlier so hopefully I'll see you guys around...gives me the option to stick with that server and maybe join in on the fun...we'll see...

Be said? Really? That's the worst name of them all.

Should've gone with Trabia or Lindblum.

My social linkshell and I were going to choose Besaid, since it's from FFX and we were previously on Valefor, also from FFX. But I suppose it would be a wiser decision to choose one of the new servers, as other linkshells/communities have three-chocobo'd out the initial ones!

I most definitely don't have anything against roleplayers, but my linkshell and I would rather be on a server not associated with a specific type of community, official or otherwise. We can be a rather disruptive bunch. c:

There is the possibility that BASF will also be on Besaid. Some members of my site have expressed an interest in roleplaying, and a number of us (myself included) were in a RP LS on Garuda for FFXI.

The more people interested in RP on the server, the better! I hope to see you all there. Non-RPers too. We are a friendly bunch, don't be scared of us. ^_^

Well, most likely some group or other will make every server their home for something, so you can't really avoid it. ;) Some "official" servers would be good to avoid, though, like if a huge group is going to congregate on a particular server and you'd prefer a smaller server or whatever. But I doubt a few hundred RPers will cause enough problems for you and your LS causing problems. ;D

(In other words, just choose whatever server you guys want. Though server names are just names anyway, doesn't really matter which you choose. :)

I did the same thing. I was telling everyone on our forum "Go to Jecht! Go to Jecht!" then had to repost when they changed the names to towns. "I mean Besaid!" Now I'm probably gonna have to re-repost. Maybe Selbina?

Man, what's with all the hate over Besaid? You know it's pronounced "be sayd", right? Sounds real nice to me. And it's actually my favorite town from one of my favorite Final Fantasy games, so I was gonna roll there anyway, if not Figaro. I mean, Besaid is a lush and beautiful island community with beaches and forests and waterfalls, the music is absolutely wonderful and very mellow... I could think of hardly a better place I would wanna spend a long, lazy afternoon relaxing, talking, and beating up Dingos.

And now I have an even stronger reason to pick this server. As has been said, RP servers tend to have the most mature and some of the most vibrant communities in my experience, with many intelligent, kind people who are a pleasure to play with. I very well may take part in RP myself, too.

I'm on Besaid, and nobody will talk to me. 2/3 of the people I /tell ignore me, and any time I /shout I can expect a response of deafening silence. And no, I'm not selling gil, I ask questions, like where someone got their new hat, or whether the level recharge got reset, and such. Is this due to RPers ignoring people who don't RP? Or people not speaking English? Or is it just a server comprised primarily of douches? Or are all the servers like that?

Well I'm on Besaid and not an RP'er and if I see someone shout/tell/say I will respond if I can say something useful or helpful. In this way much of my small Linkshell has been formed. I think you have to take into account that sometimes people are busy crafting, are afk, might be playing with gamepad and are not right next to the KB, may nopt be able to speak english (or w/e language you use) and might just not want to answer a lot of questions!

My experience of other people talking tends to be sporadic. Sometimes I see a lot of chats going on, other times silence.

Every experience I've had on every server has been that people don't answer questions. I really don't think it's specific to the Besaid server. If you played FFXI, you're used to a community that is good about helping with that, but this is a new community that isn't that developed yet, and even a lot of XI players are too immersed in experiencing the beta to bother answering questions.
