alchemy...think its 16 shards? might need something else too though...you can break a crystal into same amount of shards as well.

Oh my god, this crafting system is so convoluted. Carpenters need leather this and blacksmith that, armorer is basically the other half of blacksmith, alchemy is needed for the crystals. Jesus, this needs some trimming.

I'm glad. The more complicated and intertwined the crafting system, the better in my opinion.

after the economy has had time to pick up (may not happen in beta people dont acre enough) it should become far easier to acquire these items, and you'll be able to make money off the similar items of your chosen craft

Yeah, they hammered on the crafting this time round, more cross-job stuff early. Didn't used to have as much until later.

I like that there's leather straps and bronze buckles involved in making a piece of body armor. The econ's going to end up being half this game on purpose from the get-go, instead of by accident until later like last time.

If the menus are still as hard to navigate as they were B3 and earlier, is that such a good thing? I generally don't craft, but was hoping to be a bs/armourer to help myself out as a glad this time around but I'm pretty turned off by the menu process atm.

Crafting was almost exactly the same in FFXI in this regard, so this doesn't bother me.

I have yet to craft (started in B3) but the menus are 100x better then what they were in B3. Still some improvements needed for sure, but its a lot better. With that saying i havent crafted so dont know on that part of it.
