Hello everyone,

I'm really looking for some advice as to why the game has such low performance on my PC. I will start with the spec details of my PC.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. All updates installed.
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ (2 CPUs), ~2.5GHz.
Memory: 4096MB RAM.
Hard Drive: 80GB. Around 25GB free space.
Video Card: Gainward 9800GT Golden Sample 512MB GDDR3 DVI VGA HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card
Motherboard: ASUS M2NPV-VM NF430 Socket AM2 PCI-E DDR2 SATA uATX

I'm currently running the game in 1360 x 768 but it appears to be really choppy and not smooth at all. The only way I can describe it is that it feels like running through a swamp. The game just feels like its dragging all the time. Just slow. The in game settings are set quite low too. I also carried out a defrag after updating the game last night.

I have updated the graphics driver but this didn't change a thing.

Any advice would be great!

Thank you

Yep. Every netbook with an atom processor nowadays plays WoW.
****, I am sure with some tweaking it would run on an iphone.
Or even on the LCD display of my microwave.

You may fall within the minimum specs, but they're just that, minimum specs, that allow the game to run .. at all.

I am having the same problems with an i7 and GTX 460. Well when im outside I'm okay but running through the city almost makes the game unplayable.

Thanks for the replies. Oh well, I can't afford to upgrade anything at the moment so I'm going to have to give the game a miss for now.

I've never even heard of that brand of video card, so that's where I am going to point my finger. That and 512MB is the low end 9800.

Also keep in mind the servers are EXTREMELY laggy. Yes people are getting bad connections but the servers are causing most of the issue. I was at around 55 up and 125 down earlier today and was still getting a yellow ring with really bad server lag. The mouse delay, well, sucks. I would be amazed if they really left it like that.

I did notice the mouse lag while I was trying to play. It would be good if that was changed in time for the games release.

Guess I'm going to have to stick to FF XI for now! That plays fine lol :)

Also try running in Windowed mode. Someone said that cures mouse lag.

It helps a little, but definitely doesn't cure it. But then you have to deal with your mouse moving out of the window constantly.

The game is very CPU oriented. I found out 2 cores doesn't actually make the game perform all that well. Ticked affinity to 2 out of 4 cores of my quad and the game was having sound issues and my FPS had dropped about 30%. 3 cores is basically the minimum I would say.

I have a slightly more powerful video card than you and can run it at 1280x960 with everything off or at minimum except shadows which is on standard and texture quality/filtering set to highest and get playable framerates. (45+)

So, to be specific: You should really get a quad core CPU, at least from my experience. But if your board is AM2 and not AM2+, then I think there's nothing you can upgrade to. Though there are people who are playing with dual core CPUs, so I don't know, everyone's going to have different performance with their setups.

A current generation video card is going to do more for you than a CPU would, however, but it'd have to be a higher Fermi model (GTX 460+) to justify the upgrade cost unless you plan to play at that lower resolution.

Edit: I'm assuming you have Ambient Occlusion, Depth of Field and Anti-Aliasing off and shadows to Standard or lower. If you don't, change them. If you do; bring up task manager, go to the services tab and disable 'Desktop Window Manager', see if that removes the 'sluggish' feeling. You could also disable 'Distance Drawing' and 'Character Shadows' within the game to further increase FPS.

The only glaring isssue is your cpu and video card, I say try hard to get into the beta, to test your specs.. run the hardware test they released, if that runs then the game should run. pretty much it.

Use this thread, http://www.zam.com/forum.html?game=268&mid=1283069086196859039&page=1 benchmark tool is there.
