As the title says: are there any advantages to having the guild of your class in your starting city?

I'd like to start in Ul'dah, but I'd prefer to play as a Lancer or Conjurer, both of which they do not have a guild in Ul'dah.

As for crafting classes, I'd like to ask the same question, since the reasons are probably different.

The only thing I can see right now is that there are abilities which can only be purchased through guilds with guildmarks. They look to be fairly high level, so you'd probably be able to trek to another city to find your guild by the time you need them.

So there's not really any important advantage to have it in your starting city? Thanks~
Though there used to be Guild Mark NPCs for every class in Limsa, I reckon that was just for the beta.

I could be mistaken, but in the earlier beta I believe they added an NPC for every class that acted as the guild (purchasing abilities) etc. That could have been for earlier versions only since all guilds weren't available, but I'd guess not.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

No there isnt, they specifically stated that they didn't want people to feel obligated to choose one city over another.

Like the above poster said, everything the guild sells requires marks, LOTS of them, by the time you need them, you should be more then capable of running across the world to get them.
