How to Socket Abilities in hot barFollow

I havel located the ability and the drop down menu for it but I cant seem to get it onto my hotbar.

You don't drag and drop them.

You open up the ability menu, and then 'equip' the abilities to your main or off hand. Then they will automatically show up on the action bar. If you want to put it on a different button, simply select the slot you want, from the ability menu, then equip an ability there.

The chat box will say that the action is assigned to a slot, but I noticed that the image in the slot (and the action limit bar) is a little slow in updating, so you may have to wait a second or two.

Anyone know of a way to get these to stay put when changing classes? Really annoying to be mining somewhere, then get aggro'd, switch to lancer and have no cure or attack options >.<

Only current way of doing it is setting a macro for each job and using it whenever you switch. It's one of those things people are hoping will be fixed come Sept. 22.

possibly (most likely) stupid question ... what's the effect of equipping an ability as a main or off hand? not sure I understand that (unless there's some weird dual wielding option I haven't seen yet....)
