Thinking about picking up a new gaming mouse and or gaming keypad - has anyone tried the Naga mouse and/or the Belkin Nostromo (or something similar like the one from Saitek, etc.) with FFXIV yet? How well does it work and would you recommend both/either?

I have the Naga mouse and absolutely loved it for FFXI. It still works well with FFXIV, but the interface is not quite optimized yet. It is still best suited for using a controller, but if you are "thinking about getting it" then I would highly recommend it, because you will still see advantages in many other games.

I used the Naga for about 5 minutes in FFXIV, then went straight back the XBOX 360 controller. FFXIV is just built around a gamepad of some kind, while not bad and still usable the Naga and keyboard are just a slower way to access the interface with this build of FFXIV.

Hopefully they will improve the mouse functionality after release, but I am not going to hold my breath. But for just about any other game, ever, you can't beat the Naga, period.

I agree with the two above me - I also have a Naga and while it's terrific for games like WoW which is designed for a keyboard.... It's just lacking in both SE's mmos and you will probably be better served with a gamepad.

Still, there are some folks who swear by a keyboard. I don't see how they do it with the macro palette delays and all, but to each their own.
