Is there an easy way to check which equipment is responsible for giving me the red warning symbol, or do I need to check each individual item?

They really should put a damage stat on each piece of gear..

Do things only get damaged when you die, or is it through "use" as well?

I haven't checked in Open Beta but in Closed most pieces of equipment had like 10,000+ durability though. Some even having like 80k to 120k.

I plan on leveling Armorsmith/Blacksmith so I think for the most part I will be ok on repairs.

It seems that the damage warning comes up when stuff is only partially damaged. Like, you play for an hour or two and it pops up but the armor is only maybe 5% damaged. Does this have any affect on it's stats or does that only happen when it's durability reaches 0?

I only noticed a difference when it hit 0.

How do you know where to find a repair NPC?

And how do you fix armour yourself? I have Armorer tools and the reagents to fix it, but the option is still unavailable so I'm not sure what else to do.

I just repaired my war axe.. First I equiped my blacksmith hammer. then select the war axe from "inventory" and the repair button on the bottom of the axe picture was open. click that it and put me in sysnth mode. then i add the 2 nuggets to the material and go..

Added note if others want to test it. Before i repaired my axe. it was about 20,000 / 140000 durability and i was missing sooo much. misses and mobs evading. first fight after full repair. I never missed once. fighting green con'd rats.

I'm a little confused how to repair my cloth items for myself. the under pants im wearing at the moment are very damaged. i'm weaving 8 and i have the necessary item its requesting for repair yet the repair item stays disabled. i tried switching to weaver and its still the same thing. I tried with the damaged item equipped and not equipped.

I'm having a bit of a problem with this system.

I was going fine from day one, but come day two I had the yellow "warning" buff. More time passed and I began to see a red warning buff instead. OK, part of the game, I'll go repair. I find an NPC in town and repair as much as he'll let me, but still the red warning remains. Looks like the only thing left to do is seek out a player for repairs and see how it goes from there.

Another thing that disturbs me is the fact that I've been hitting these low durability warnings while doing nothing but crafting and mining. How on earth is my gear being damaged when I'm not even being hit? My main/sub tools I can understand being damaged, maybe even pants/boots for running and kneeling to craft, but I'd love for them to explain why a necklace and chest piece are losing durability as well lol.

Venting aside, I'm really enjoying the beta and I'm anxious to see what kind of improvements are on the way.

You're hitting rocks with a pickaxe, there's shards of stone flying up and beating the %@*! out of you as you mine. Derrrr....

EDIT: Also I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get repairs, found a Blacksmith with a bazaar and I couldn't do anything. The way SE described it you would be able to simply click on someone who is a Blacksmith with a shop and repair your gear.

This is what it says in the Beta Manual:

Quote:

Condition and Repair of Equipment

Through the natural course of use, all equipment-weapons, armor, and tools alike-will suffer from deterioration and a decline in effectiveness. At the hands of a skilled crafter, however, such equipment can be restored to prime condition.

- Do-It-Yourself Repairs
First, ensure that the proper tool is equipped. From the main menu, access the Item List and then Inventory. Choose the item you wish to restore, then click the Repair button to initiate the process.

- Enlisting the Aid of Other Adventurers
From the main menu, access the Item List and then Inventory. Choose the item you wish to restore, then click the Seek Repair button to initiate the process. You may choose to offer a certain amount of gil or an item as payment for the repair.

- Emergency Repairs
Certain NPCs located in city-states can perform emergency equipment repairs upon request. Be warned, however, that the subsequent quality of equipment repaired in this manner will fall short of those worked upon by honest-to-goodness crafters.

*To repair equipment, you will need to have the necessary materials for the item to be repaired.
By using appropriate, high quality materials, you may be able to cut down on the materials used.

Which just leads me to believe that the system is broken since I couldn't click the "Seek Repairs" button at all.
