ffxi-esque accuracy heavy combat?Follow

I'm still patching... 4 hours and then a few smaller ones I'm sure. I finally had some time to start reading up on classes/races and so on. I played early ffxi (zillart/promethia) and I distinctly remember melee dps classes favoring accuracy gear over damage gear, as well as certain stats directly effecting abilities dex/agi for sneak/trick.

I'm just curious if they're going the same route, where accuracy is a focus stat across the board. Or, if they did something wow styled with a hit cap. Also are there any pure stats (probably dex) that effect accuracy?

One more I just thought of. Do stats correlate to elements or vice versa? vit-earth, str-fire, dex-ligtning, agi-wind and so on.

Thanks in advance for input and here's to hoping lancer = sam/thf 2.0!

From what I read Lancer seems more support based than Sam'd out.

There was a hit cap in ffxi, 95% was/is the cap. But it's kinda basic, it doesn't matter how much dmg you can deal, if you miss that hit, you do 0...

I don't have much experience with wow, but it's safe to assume this is acc based. Also low level in ffxi, better to stack on attack and str than acc.

well im leveling a THM so im not melee BUT im glad i figured mag acc would be extra important similar to FFXI because even though its my secondary stat i still get total resists on scourge on even prey mobs

So accuracy is still important, but at what level are you guys starting to notice the need to start stacking acc?
Also, can you only increase accuracy via gear with accuracy on it, or can you allocate stats (dex i guess?) to increase it?

-you allocate points to DEX to increase ACC
-how much DEX you need depends on what you're fighting
-I haven't seen any clothing with +acc/atk on it, only defensive stats, but presumably there will be some.

Well elemental resistances have their own set of points to asign as in this vid, so I wouldnt think so.

If you are talking about damage though I have no idea, but I would expect it to be more item based.

There are accesories with ACC on them. Bone rings for sure are Macc+3.

I think ACC will be important because MISSING HURTS in a game where most of your big DD comes from TP using abilities. I have been missing a lot of TP moves on Marauder (lol2handers again?) sometimes 2 of them in a row, which is about -50% of a mob's HP that you missed out on.

on PUG I didn't notice as many missed TP moves.

The importance of accuracy is going to come down to the players and what the player base chooses to fight against in the level relative department.

In FFXI you had to equip A LOT of acc to hit the 95% cap because the enemies that the players fought were Incredibly Tough. It would have been very different if parties gravitated toward Even Match or Tough.

So the answer to the ops question remains to be seen.

I missed Concussive blow a lot. I think you just notice 2h misses more because it doesn't attack as fast so there is more emphasis on each attack.
