This has to be the worst quest I've ever seen in an MMO...Follow

At Ul'Dah, in the Mining Guild area, where we're tasked to use emotes to effectively calm the miners. What is the deal with this, has anyone been able to figure it out? I'm literally surrounded by 10-15 people cursing this quest off as I type this, and no one can seem to figure it out.

I've gotten the right emotes in practice with the Miqo'te, but I didn't write them down or anything, and apparently I've got to repeat them to the miners, only the Miqo'te won't repeat the order, it seems.

Whoever designed this quest should be shot. -_-

Any help would be greatly appreciated! ^_^;b

The two miners react to different emotes. Try an emote on one and if he doesn't react to it, switch to the other and do the same emote. Just go down the emote list and get a reaction for each one and the quest should complete.

Off the top of my head the emotes were furious, beckon, laugh, upset, deny, and soothe.

The needed emotes should be listed in your journal.

Thanks, everyone! I guess I must have missed one of the last emotes for the Miqo'te, though I was sure I did all six with her a few times each. After that part was finished, the rest was cake.

To help others:

Manic Miner: Furious > Laugh > Soothe

Maddened Miner: Beckon > Deny > Upset

If only I could have that 1.5 hours of my life back, now. :P

Thanks again!

The journal actually tells you what emotes to use if you forgot. It took me maybe 3 minutes to complete the entire thing. One thing to note is that the journal tells you to use different emotes than you used with the miqo'te; but they still work for some reason.

I'm pretty sure furious and deny are not necessary.

yeah, I could of sworn it was "deny" and not "no". If you look at the journal entry after you get your emote instructions, it tells you to use "no". When I read that I was thinking that I was told by the Miqo'te to use deny. But like others have pointed out, it has no bearing on the actual quest. You get no reaction from deny or no. Its just an error that I noticed.

I think I used 'Beckon' on one, and 'Laugh' on the other and the quest progressed.

I agree that this portion of the quest is just ridiculous. Otherwise, I thought the quest was amusing (although I have to say that it was a pretty boring event in general) and the reward for it was quite nice. I'm really starting to wonder if gil in this game is going to be gotten mostly through story quests, or if they are just keeping it this high for the beta so they can have a fresh economy w/ new prices at launch.

I'm not sure what they're planning, exactly. They mentioned that rewards for quests were increased for Open Beta. I don't know if they plan on keeping that for live. But what I do know, is the Close Beta Limsa equivalent storyline granted around 3k gil, I think. A far cry less than the 30k I received from Open Beta Gridania.

They also mentioned that npc prices were increased, so who knows, really. They could just be giving us lots of gil for testing purposes for these next 17 days.
