Isn't there supposed to be voice acting in this game? I thought I read that somewhere.. or is it just not in because it's beta or something?

The only voice acting I've seen so far is the opening cutscene.

Same here.

I just did the part where you take the treant vine (Gridania) to the leatherworkers.. and there was a little cutscene and the game seemed kind of empty without it. It definitely could have used some.

It's only going to be for major CSs apparently. It remains to be seen if it will eventually be added for those quests, but I really hope it is by retail.

Though wow, those Lalafell voices are a little awful.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

I was hoping for more voice acting, but its understandable that there isn't. Doing a simultaneous worldwide release of a major mmo with full voice acting in all regions would be in incredible feat.

Not especially, since the voice acting is in English in all regions anyway.

oh really? I wasn't aware of that. I would be pretty disappointed if I were a Japanese person playing a Japanese game and had to listen to English or read Japanese subtitles. I know most of the world learns to speak english in school, but it would still be a kick in the pants if say... blizzard released a game with Japanese only voice acting.

The voice acting is pretty bad anyway, at least in the Gridania scene (It was pretty good for the limsa one) so I don't feel like I missed out too much.

For some reason, all the Roegadyn have really good voice acting so far. The Hyur guy, the Elezen guy, both from Ul'Dah are done quite well to. Sadly, pretty much everyone else is absolutely terrible. They sound like really badly faked old English accents. The Hyur girl and the Lalafell guy in the Gridania Cut Scene's voice acting is so horrible that I can't even listen to it, I mean it's like they just asked some one with no voice acting experience from their office to do a quick script using a British accent, and to make it worse the Lalafell's voice is just, terribly done, not just the fake accent but his voice is just like nails on a chalkboard. It's like some one's trying REALLY hard to make a "small voice" and failing miserably at it.

I agree. I was pleased with the Limsa VA so was expecting good things, but I was really disappointed with the VA for Gridania. It's not just bad, but embarrassing to be caught watching.

I felt like the lalafell in that scene was channeling this:

I thought only gridania had good voice acting. It was very fitting with their characters. They were funny I loved those two lalafell and the female hume.

no, the voice actors for the Gridania opening scene were clearly ripping off Monty Python.
