Finding Gear in beta, How?Follow

So is there anyway to upgrade my gear without being a crafter? The quest rewards so far have only given me a shirt and pants. The npcs in town seem to sell only the starter weapons and the market wards suck.

Did they add some type of search function for the market wards that I just haven't noticed? Should I just be more patient and the quest rewards will be enough? Am I missing anything? I never liked crafting.

This is something i've been wondering as well, i've just hit 10 with the same gear i started in, i've been looking for a shield for my Gladiator everywhere with no luck even in XI you could upgrade your gear in the starting areas to a certain degree....or am i missing something also. :P

This is pretty much it:

Guildleve Rewards
Guildleve Treasure Chest
Crafting
Vendor

I have yet to see an actual monster drop a piece of gear. I myself am a huge crafter so I will be pumping out stuff but I'm not going to bother in open beta since it will be wiped. I crafted a lot in phase 3 so I understand the system and theres no need for me to go into it again for this test. My opinion: I think you'll find a lot more gear come release from bazaars and the market wards.

EDIT: Oh and the other thing is people are still trying to figure out recipes so it might take some time for some equipment.

It seems like there is a huge shortage of wind shards...like you can't find them lol Which is a big part of a lot of recipes so I don't know what's going on with that, but I would think the market wards and people's bazaars should have various gear for sale by now if it wasn't for that. I was gonna start clothcraft but saw I needed wind shards and out of the 1000+ shards I have I don't have one wind yet. I've seen some people making weapons so you may have luck there if you find the right person.

The small bits of gear I've found sold by NPCs is either level1 stuff or extremely expensive...and still there isn't much, but I've seen a few NPCs selling shields for outrageous prices.

So far from the 5 leves I've gone I've gotten: Pants, A hat, and gloves. I could have gotten a pickaxe too but I didn't do that one.

I did all the leves in less than three hours and all i got was cloth mage hat which i couldn't equip.
Seriously this lack of gear is somewhat disturbing, ive racked up 15k gil with nothing to spend it on :p

I could buy some rings, wristbands, and rings from an npc in town(Ul'dah) if I wanted.. I don't think they were too expensive.

Why do you think you get 30,000 gil every 10 levels from the story quests? Half of you people are so cheap to buy from peoples bazaars. I set very reasonable prices in my bazaar. I have sold over 20 helmets and a bajillion pieces of jewelry so far.

Elfishgene
