Downloader IssueFollow

I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong section.

So I downloaded the 100 megabit set-up file to initiate the download of the game, but my download speed remains at 0.0 b/s, whilst the upload rate is usually on 50 or above, Is there any known issues about this problem?

Or is it merely the congestion of people trying to download the same thing?

Some help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

There are a few threads about this, but here's what I've been suggesting. There are other suggestions out there dealing with port forwarding and some router tweaking. But if you're not comfortable doing that, then this suggestion really just involves installing a different torrent and doing some dragging and dropping. Much more user-friendly for the computer-novice :)

1. Open the FFXIV open Beta client, allow it to get to the step where it begins downloading files. This will ensure you have the torrents downloaded on your computer.

2. Open whatever application you use for downloading torrents. If you do not use one already, I would suggest uTorrent ( www.utorrent.com ). In Utorrent, File > add torrent. Point Utorrent to the following:
Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\metainfo

In the metainfo folder you will find files that have the same name as the patch your FFXIV was trying to download. Select these files, and hit open.

3. Utorrent will now begin downloading these files to your computer. Based on your internet connection and security settings this should take less than 5 minutes. By default Utorrent downloads to the "downloads" folder in your documents folder. After it is complete there will be a folder called D96437e6, inside of this folder there will be a folder called patch, and inside the patch folder, there will be the actual patches

4.Copy these files to Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch

5. Open FFXIV, it will try to patch again, realize it already has the information, and prompt you to log in.

6. Win.

This is what was suggested by someone in our LS forums, and it worked great for the tiny patch that I had to download yesterday. I'm sure it'd work for any of the patches that S-E requires, but you just have to pay attention to the creation date of the individual torrent files, and such, so you make sure you download the right one.

Thank you so much for the advice, should I add the torrent whilst the FFbeta downloader is running?

I'm not a torrent expert, I'm afraid. The patch I downloaded was 7mb, or so, not the main installer. But the downloader should pick up where you left off. So if you closed the official one down, opened the torrent file up in the outside torrent program, like utorrent, then even if it didn't work, you should still be able to pick up where you left off on the download with the official S-E downloader.

I'd probably close down the official one, just to avoid any shared file issues.

You've been a great help! Thank you very much!

The file is about 4gigs. It's actually downloading now, full speed.

I wasn't getting anywhere with the FF downloader, thanks again!
