I managed to download the offical client via the offical updater overnight whilst i slept, but i had to find another way to get the patch updated as my download froze on 94.8% same as you. Im ingame now, so it works.

This is what i posted in another thread on this forum..

Quote:
I've found a nice solution to this, use the Torrents from downloads/ffxiv-beta/d96437e6/patch

Grab the torrent file from there and open it in your Torrent program, once its completed you then have to copy this file to the offical updaters location, which for some reason is in a completely different folder to your game cilent.

On my PC with Default install and running Win 7 it can be found here:

C:/users/owner[yourname]/mydocuments/mygames/Final Fantasy XIV Beta Version/downloads/ffxiv-beta/d96437e6/patch

Then paste the completed torrent download here, then run the updater again and it should hopefully apply that patch, i've just used bittorrent to download the 4.8mb patch then did the above and its worked first time, im now ingame.

Hope this helps you all.

I am stuck at 94.8% as well. I have downloaded the patch with utorrent, stuck it in the folder in the walkthrough and my updater is still trying to download the patch and won't go past 94.8%. I even ran it as administrator. Anyone got a clue what I'm doing wrong?

*AHEM* It figures when I finally get so fed up with troubleshooting and post that I finally get it....LOL. I bet SE has been watching me the entire time.....

I just took the effort of creating an account to thank you guys.
The uTorrent download fix thingy worked wonders.

After waiting 4 hours for this download to complete, to no avail, this has fixed it.

Thanks a million.

Can you fix the interface lag and the other shortcomings too ?

I patched all the files besides the 4.7gb one. It is taking forever to download. Everyone is saying patched in under 3 min, how if you have a 4.7gb file to download.

If I use the other files it still shows me at 94.8%

You need to disable some of the settings in your config file.

I disabled the top 5 things and there isnt anymore interface lag, however on lower spec PC's i can see this game causing trouble. So that might be your problem if what i say doesnt fix it.

PS:

Guys, make sure you find the correct folder.

That is the complete client update for the Open Beta, we've all had to download that.

Hxxxxxx.xxx - that file is the main client.
Dxxxxxx.xxx - those are the patch files.

Its usually:

D2010.09.04.2000

D[then the date the patch is issued].patch number

As they release maybe 2-3 maybe more patches per day they will datestamp all patches and then add a random number prefix to the end to help them and us keep track.

So if you miss a day you know that all D2010.09.05.xxxx files will be files released on the 5th of September.

The last patch file is:

D2010.09.04.2000, once you have this downloaded you are ready to go.

I posted this a few times, but here you go.

As long as you're comfortable installing a torrent program (If you don't have one already), and do some dragging/dropping of files into other folders, do this. It's worked wonders for our LS:

1. Open the FFXIV open Beta client, allow it to get to the step where it begins downloading files. This will ensure you have the torrents downloaded on your computer.

2. Open whatever application you use for downloading torrents. If you do not use one already, I would suggest uTorrent ( www.utorrent.com ). In Utorrent, File > add torrent. Point Utorrent to the following:
Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\metainfo

In the metainfo folder you will find files that have the same name as the patch your FFXIV was trying to download. Select these files, and hit open.

3. Utorrent will now begin downloading these files to your computer. Based on your internet connection and security settings this should take less than 5 minutes. By default Utorrent downloads to the "downloads" folder in your documents folder. After it is complete there will be a folder called D96437e6, inside of this folder there will be a folder called patch, and inside the patch folder, there will be the actual patches

4.Copy these files to Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch

5. Open FFXIV, it will try to patch again, realize it already has the information, and prompt you to log in.

6. Win.

7. Fail.

I finally caved in and downloaded utorrent, and it still doesn't work.

people stuck on 94.8% like i was?

the client hangs up trying or not trying 0.00 k/bps while downloading D2010.09.04.2000
you just have to use utorrent for this file only, get that file from their delete any patch file called D2010.09.04.2000 and paste the fresh downloaded file in its place.

this site helped me http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/12719-open-beta-download-links-install-instructions/

however the file i downloaded from megaupload D2010.09.04.2000 did not work just get this yourself from utorrent.

Anyways the above link is great i wished i found it 5 days ago to download the other files as it took me over 2days on utorrent.

goodluck.

Seriously dude, the site he told you to visit tells you to do the exact same thing i just did, i even showed you pictures on what your suppose to be doing, if you cannot understand simple instructions from pictures then perhaps this isnt the ideal fix for you, just run your Offical Updater and wait or pull your finger out your *** and do as i and the site instructs you and stop being a douche.

RED = Closed Beta
BLUE = Brand New Install (Follow GREEN, PINK and ORANGE as well!)
GREEN = Updated Files for those who followed this guide before 9-1-2010
PINK = Updated Files for those who followed this guide before 9-2-2010
ORANGE = Updated Files for those who followed this guide before 9-3-2010
PURPLE = Updated Files for those who followed this guide before 9-4-2010

- Its quite simple, you scroll down this guide he's posted until you find the color text which addresses you, as your looking at his guide from 9-4-2010 this means you need to download the file which is in Purple Text, IE: You need to update the last patch file.

If you need to update a previous patch file from a previous date then simply find the color which applies to you and then download that and all patches after that color.

Better yet use your brain and save us all some hassle.

- Run your Offical Updater find out the file name its downloading and then you need to download that file using torrent as i showed you in my previous post and any other patches you miss just do them all the same way.

When your installing patches make sure you install them in the correct order, so dont install a patch from 9-4-2010 before you install a patch from 9-2-2010.

You need to download all patches you need and then COPY THEM 1 BY 1 INTO THE UPDATER FOLDER, MAKING SURE YOU INSTALL THEM IN ORDER.

I honestly cant make it any easier than i did in my picture guide, so i dunno what else to say.

You honestly don't even need to use a torrent. I said this earlier.. just google the version number and you will find a link.. generally uploaded on megaupload, or one of those sites. I've done that for every single update so far. This is coming from someone who uses torrents every single day.. I just don't see the point with these little bitty files like these last couple patches.

I think the little files are for stuff that needs to be patched asap like critical errors and such, otherwise they would just wait for the next big update.

Some stuff can afford to wait, other things cannot as they may or may not directly effect gameplay or the servers in a very bad way like security issues etc.

Thats why they update the game with these small files because they are needed.

@ w34v3r:

Please Look

Okay, this picture shows all the torrent files you will have listed in said folder, you then highlight them all [or the ones your missing] and then open in torrent, once its completed you go to your torrent downloads folder, find the patches and then copy them to the last folder ive listed, this will then tell your updater you have the files, they just need to be installed which it will then do.

Problem solved.

Failing that search google with the file name and see if that other guy is right and download them from megaupload etc.

I appreciate the help, bud, and your guide was very helpful, but nothing seemed to work for me. It's all right; I'll just wait for SE to address the issue, and if it isn't addressed... Well, it's just a game, and an obviously buggy one at that. I'll live. I do appreciate your patient guidance, though.

(One thing I found interesting: My update was actually stuck on 08.27.2000, instead of 09.04.2000... Whatever that means.)

Don't like doing this as a company that speicalizes in s/w should have enough brains to have a proper downloader. Anyway thanks for the info. Worked perfectly the first time. followed your exact steps. If this continues I will rethink my purchase of the game as since the 2nd have only done nothing but try to download data. Got to the opening cut scene twice LOL.

thanks again keep posting help as the downloads continue to get screwed up over the next comming months.

Okay, open up the following folders on your PC Lithium.. and make sure you have all the below files in each which you should.

metainfo = torrent file locations
patch = patch file locations

These are the files you need to download using Bit Torrent or whatever your Torrent Downloader is.

If the files below arent in your folders then you need to run the updater to make sure it gets the metainfo torrent file. Just run the updater then close it and you will have the torrents in the below folders.

C:\Users\[owner]\My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\metainfo

- D2010.08.27.2001.torrent
- D2010.09.05.2000.torrent

C:\Users\[owner]\My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\metainfo

- D2010.08.31.2000.torrent
- D2010.09.01.2000.torrent
- D2010.09.01.2001.torrent
- D2010.09.02.2000.torrent
- D2010.09.02.2001.torrent
- D2010.09.03.2000.torrent
- D2010.09.04.2000.torrent
- D2010.09.05.2000.torrent

----------------------------------------

These above torrent files are the files your Updater is trying to download, now once you've downloaded these using your Torrent Program you need to locate them all on your PC and then you need to copy them all to.. and here's where you need to pay attention.

My torrents are located in:

C:\Users\John\Downloads\ffxiv-beta

Inside that folder will then be 2 sub directories

bca2a8ae\patch
d96437e6\patch

Inside those folders will then be the patches you've just downloaded.

IMPORTANT, YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE EACH PATCH GOES INTO THE CORRECT FOLDER INSIDE THE FFXIV BETA FOLDER THAT YOUR UPDATER IS LOOKING FOR THE UPDATES:

Which are these folders:

C:\Users\[owner]\My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\patch
C:\Users\[owner]\My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch

Then just run your updater and it should install them all, if you get an error just try again, ive had errors when installing the updates and simply restarted the updater to fix it.

Vista and Win 7 are the same thing, the core builds of Win 7 are Vista.

When i was testing the Windows 7 Beta the client i was using always said vista_build:0013123 etc, they didnt make a new OS they just updated Vista and did all the things the community had been telling them to do to vista in order to fix it.

Thats all Win 7 is, its how Vista should have been when it was released.

Microsoft told testers that Vista Drivers would work on Windows 7.

-------

Obviously as your using Vista you wont know this but the majority of stuff in Win 7 is exactly the same as Vista.

ive noticed a few other people post with the same thing i am about to. but have no seen anyone auctually answer this question yet! ok. so i followed your guides. took all your hints. downloaded the patch that the downloader is giving me troubles with multible times, i used utorrent. i used megaupload. and i also used a direct zip file link that my friend sent me. i made sure that i did not copy and paste the files while the beta file updater was running. and i made sure to close all programs besides the beta client when i opened it. but even tho i have downloaded the files and have them in the right places! the beta client still is trying to download the same file that i already have and its still stopping at 94.6% mind you. the file is already in the correct folder?! i dont get it? what am i doing wrong. help please :(

and the file im having patch issue's with is "d2010.09.05.200"

READ THIS PLEASE!!! THEN PROCEED TO THE NEXT PART!

UPDATE: DO NOT COPY D2010.09.05.2000 file into both folders, they are not the same file, they just have the same name.

MAKE SURE THE PATCH FROM THE TORRENT IN bca2a8ae FOLDER GOES INTO THE PATCH FOLDER OF bca2a8ae.
MAKE SURE THE PATCH FROM THE TORRENT IN d96437e6 FOLDER GOES INTO THE PATCH FOLDER OF d96437e6.

Right go to the following folder.

C:\Users\John\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta

- In there should be 2 folders:
- bca2a8ae
- d96437e6

Right, now the majority of patches will be for the d96437e6 folder, however sometimes there is 2 patch files with the same name D2010.09.05.2000

1 is to go into:

bca2a8ae\patch

and the other into:

d96437e6\patch

--------------

Okay, now you understand that you need to realize that sometimes files become corrupt and you get errors from them, i've just had one saying i needed to free up 400gb of space on drive C:, now to fix this i simply went into the following folders:

bca2a8ae\patch
d96437e6\patch

I then deleted all files within them and started the Updater again and hey-presto, problem fixed.

So try doing that, go to the patch folders and delete the patches inside them.

--------------

Now go to the post i made before on how to open the patch downloads in your torrent downloader and dont use files posted on sites by other people because not everyone wants to help others some might put up files which are faulty.

If your downloading from a torrent using the torrent file in the FFXIV Beta Folders then you know the files are legit because your using the same files as SE have given or set you to download your just not using their Updater to get them.

Once you've done this go back and follow my instructions on my previous post in this thread.

--------------

Stop trying to cut corners and make things easier by downloading from megaupload etc, do the torrents and follow my method i've not run into any issues yet using this method so it does work, you just need to make sure you get the right files in the right locations.

There is only one D2010.09.2000 and it's under bca2a8ae. There is nothing with the name of D2010.09.2000 in the d96437e6 folder.

All in all this isn't working for me. Guess I'll let it go overnight and do it's thing.

Right, when you install a patch successfully the patch file will disappear, so the fact you have all the patch files in your folder suggests to me the updater isnt working correctly or your in the wrong folder.

Highlight all files in your patch folders and remove them, put them into 2 folders on your desktop and then run the updater again.

When the updater then says downloading xxxx - take that file from the folder on your desktop and paste it into the updaters patch folder, and then run the updater again and see if it moves onto the next file.

Take a look at this to make it alittle clearer.

@ Slapaho: If the patcher is working correctly each time it installs a file the patch file in the patch folder should disappear.

The only place you should be able to see the D2010.xx.xx.xxxx files is in the Metainfo folder, and they will be .torrent files.

The Patch folders should all be empty unless you've started downloading one of the files needed from the Updater. In which case delete it and download it with Bit Torrent and then copy and paste the complete file into the Patch Folder

Somebody smart might know what went wrong, but this may just be a terrible bug SE needs to know about. I downloaded the latest patch files with the torrent method, installed them, got the game running and I logged in. Now my entire UI is gone. I can't see my mouse, no buttons, menus, chat boxes, nada. The names above characters and NPCs heads show up, though. This is weird.
