Stuck in this tiny windowed mode, which on my big screen is even tinier. Looked through Configuration, nothing there that I can find.

Is this just how it is for the beta, or am I not seeing the setting? Please help? I'm old, my eyes are bad, need lots of screen space :)

There should be an option in config under video settings to set the resolution, although I have the downloader running and stuck so I don't want to close it right now. It was in there before though.

OOOOHHHHH.... you were looking in configuration in game... that's why.

Yeah, it's also under Start > Programs > FFXIV Beta as well.

Had to get out of the game, but that did it.

While I have someone's attention...how do I scroll the map? I'm looking at the "manual" and it doesn't seem to have keys to move the map around or zoom it in/out.

Thanks for all your help btw :)

Ouch, ok, full-screen + Alt-Tab = Exit game. Noted.

That doesn't work yet (if it ever will). You'll crash the client if you exit out of full screen.

Right now you have to decide between better performance (full screen) or being able to check other things other than playing (windowed).

That said Windowed is a good option for those with a weak PC, set it to a small window and the trade off should net better perfromance... EX: My screens 1920x1200 if I play at a high resolution in a window mode I get worse performance than if I fullscreen at my native. However if I select something windowed at lower than 1680x1050 I get better performance than at my native.

I"m not sure about zooming in/out, but I think you use camera control to scroll the map.

Another option, is to maximize performance:

If you have a desktop resolution of 1920x1200 but your game can't handle it, and you want 1680x1050, you could *temporarily* reduce your desktop resolution to 1680x1050, right?

And besides, I didn't think Windows really cared about what a desktop resolution is when something attempts to "Fullscreen" itself? It automatically changes the resolution for you, doesn't it?

I don't get why you'd get better performance out of running windowed than if you would fullscreen.... this is completely backwards of any other game I've ever played...

Yeah, was used to logging and and out of XI constantly to check things. Didn't want to use windower. It's nice they give you both modes now but hopefully they can let you gracefully alt+tab upon launch...

To move the map though, use J, K, L, and O I believe.
