lol, if you disconnect or crash during a guild leve, you automatically fail it and can't get it back...unless they fixed it, but I'm pretty sure they haven't, sorry.

Last time I failed one I couldn't restart it from the crystal immediately. However, after traveling back to town to speak to the leve npcs and pick up new quests, when I returned to the crystal the failed leve was available again.

I couldn't exactly test it because I have no desire to intentionally fail my previous leves, but that's what I remember doing in that order.

I can't seem to figure out how this works either. The patch notes make it sound like you can retry immediately, but neither the aetherite nor leve NPC gives any kind of option.

yeaah i crashed out a few times and failed them and have no clue how to retake :(

ah i can finally offer a little solid info.
i had the exact same issue, yeah you can restart the failed or canceld leve, you do go back and talk to the npc.

what you do is you exchange a new one for the old one, and actually, i discovered that if you exchange more than one old leve for one new leve you get better rewards, you can trade up to four leves for one new leve.

but ofcourse you can just keep it standard and trade 1 for 1 which is essentially restarting that one.
the NPC actually gave me those options when i went to see if i could take on any new leves.

What was I doing wrong? I spoke to the NPC, picked the camp, and he said no leves were available.

I didn't exchange any leves, I just picked up new ones and when I returned to camp the one I had failed was available again.

Are you sure the refresh on leves is 48 hours? because I collected all the DoW/M leves yesterday, and when I came online again today there was another set there that I could take. In alpha/early beta you could retry leves by just going straight to the aethyrite, I haven't tried in OB yet though.

There was an explanation somewhere around here that said leves refresh based on an in-game timer the NPC follows. When you pick up and do a leve is completely independent from when the NPC's list refreshes, so it's fully possible to do well over 8 leves within 48 real world hours if you catch them between refreshes.

Oh that makes sense. peoples issues with the 8 per 48 hour time frame seem less exaexaggerated.

Also, maybe the leves restarted because the servers were shut down for maintenance? Similar to how HNM timers reset in FFXI.

Anyone else see potential for abuse here? Fail on purpose so you can keep fighting the high xp mobs?

I thought about doing that, but when I failed a leve earlier I couldn't reinitiate it even after speaking to the guy in town. This is just a huge reminder of how much guesswork SE expects you to put in for even simple tasks.

IF and i mean IF your in a party and you Lag out you need to rejoin the party and use the Big Crystal agin to get back in a Guild Leve. IF YOU STARTED THE guild leve and this happens then you can get reinvited to the party BUT you do not get the big rewards. YOU ONLY GET the gil like if you joined someone elses GL. Hope that helps you should almost always do GL duo just for this reson.

IF/ WHEN this happens and you rejoin your GL it shows up as a loss but you get a litttle gil.

I just ran around aimlessly for three hours without disconnecting.
Start up two GL and get disconnected right before finishing, lost a doublet and a beret for my PUG.

This DC = fail nonsense is really putting me off from playing this game.
I have no good armor due to not being able to complete my leve.

How are people getting previously failed ones from the NPC again? When I ask him, he says there aren't any available even though I have two failed mining ones.

I am having the same problem, I've failed a couple of guildleves one by time out and one because of the stupid Alt+Tab crashing bug. Ive returned to the aetherite crystal and the adventurers guild where i got the leves from and no luck from either...

I've heard mention of a 48 hour cool down before failed leves can be re-issued!? If this is true then it HAS TO GO! :-(

The guildleves you failed will reset the next time you visit the guildleve desk AFTER the leve reset (6 hours 30 minutes from the time of this post).

You probably got the failed leve again at the leve counter.

Not a cooldown, rather you have a set 36-hour leve period (new period starts at 8PM EDT tonight). You can't redo a failed (or for that matter, a successful) leve until the leve period you picked it up in is over. Note that when you actually failed the leve is irrelevant.

simply speak to the npc that gave you the leve and it will be available again, tried and true I have tested it several times. There is no option you talk to them about, just speaking with them will clear the failed status.

EDIT: this does not need to be after the reset I have retried them immediately

I have a local leve that I failed (botched 4/5 synths) and it just stays in my current leve quest list. Kinda sucks you can't manually cancel it since it is taking up a slot I could be using for another local leve. NPC just ******* at me telling me to hurry up with her order but I'm out of mats. I've never seen another case of this though so I doubt its high on the 'fix it' list.

I had this happen to me in Open Beta, too - I logged out during a level to fix a graphic setting, and when I came back, I had automatically failed the levequest. A bit later I noticed the levelquest in my journal again... however, I can't remember what I did during the time in between, or if the levequest reset timer had passed. For all I know the game might have automatically reassigned me my failed levequest instead of allowing me to pick 8 whole new levequests after the 36 hour marker ticked by. /shrug

Contact a GM. A failed local leve should leave your journal as soon as you've exhausted the provided materials.

The failed local leve will stay in your journal until you've exhausted *all* of the materials, regardless of whether or not you've already prematurely failed it. It's a good idea to use up all the materials for a local leve regardless of whether or not you pass/fail it early, since these are basically completely free skillups - mats/crystals all provided to you for free.

Oh the mats are gone. And have been gone for 2 weeks now. Just a bug I reckon. Not a huge deal but now that I'm hitting 20 in several crafts it would be nice to have the extra slot to try for marks. I'll try a GM again tonight. Last time I was on hold for a couple hours before logging.
