Looking for how to get fire crystals. I know you can have them crafted but you can find them as well correct? Also has anyone else noticed you don't seem to get messages on when you acquire a shard outside of mining and logging?

I rarely get crystals, but tons of shards. Got 2 fire crystals right now, but no idea how I ended up with 'em. I'm not having any issues with the messages though...

huh, I don't get messages of getting crystals when I get them. Like I have a ton of fire shards out of no where. I use to get random shards just walking around and get a notice about it

alchemy can turn shards into crystals. Fine sand + shard x16 = crystal

Fine sand is made by goldsmiths, Sea Sand (or River Sand) x6, Lightning Shard x2 and Wind Shard x2

fine sand is listed under database > recipes

Hope this helps

When the retails version hits, I'm sure the DoW/M will be more interested in selling their shards/crystals to crafters for money. Since it isn't the super easiest thing ever, they really aren't bothering atm. Hopefully we'll see more bazaars up and running soon.

I've been having some success with setting up my bazaar as seeking crystals at the entrance to town. People entering and exiting town are going to be the ones with crystals, not people in the market wards.

Actually I just tried that. Since you can't put crystals up in your crafting ingredients, I just put in fine sand. The recipe is opposite actually. Fine sand is used to break down crystals.

1 Fine Sand + 1 crystal = 16 shards.

could be to just break down a crystal. Seen posts and recipe lists that say you can make crystals from shards. maybe it's a different item then fine sand to make crystals or maybe crystals just cant be crafted.. also heard from someone that claimed to make them. to early to tell if crystals can be crafted from shards i'd imagine.

I've killed some glowflies in lima and nothing. I've got shards but no crystals. I don't know where to buy them or anything. Apparently the alchemy recipe doesn't work either.

Fireflys drop them, Beetles drop them. They just don't drop all that often.

Sadly, you need to use valuable guild marks to get those. Really not worth it, as its pretty rare to get guild marks.

Um, no. Fine sand + crystal = 16 shards. I don't know of any way to reassemble shards back into crystals.

It was a valid recipe in Beta. I hope some recipe does exist to turn shards into crystals--maybe there's an additional mat required?

Just outside Ul'Dah, the marmots can drop fire crystals like candy. Even at phys level 20, if I switch to a low rank class, they will sometimes drop 2 crystals at once. You just need to watch out for peistes. :p

With alchemy and some of those radiant "element" moraines you can make crystals if you get your hands on a cluster

They also turn crystals into 32 shards

Anything that drops shards also drops crystals, just more rarely.

Fire elementals drop crystals at 6x a proc (But it isn't very common)

You can turn Clusters --> Crystals, and Crystals --> Shards, but not the other way around.
