A Few things don't like:
- Apparently we have to learn to read freakin' Eorzean text in order to know half the landmarks on the map.
- Is there a zoom function? I haven't found it out yet but admittedly haven't looked much into it.
- - - - What about moving across the map to view other parts that your char isn't at?
- Is there any way to set markers???

Other than that they're okay I guess.

When your map is open, your IJKL keys can be used to move the map to see other places (or whatever you remapped them to).

Yeah, I just learned yesterday the text on the map is actually English. I thought it was just art design ever since I started playing from CB3. Very poor choice of font. I still can't read most of the text.

My guess is that the map system isn't implemented fully yet. There should be:
-a way to see your partymembers on the map
-A way to set landmarks or waypoints
-at the very least have <pos> work as it doesn't yet

Ugh, I hope I'm not the only one that HATES the characters they use. And that is only for areas or maps you haven't seen. There should be a "translation" above or on the area on the map in your language. I'd ragequit if I had to "learn" to read that crap text. It's like a 5yr-old designed it!

Regardless, I'm sorry a 5 year-old is able to design beyond your range of comprehension.

...The words on the map may be English but the font is not standard roman letters, though each is equivalent to a specific roman letter. That said, there are cases where letters like i change to y etc. The intent was a distinctly Eorzean script, for mood and setting.

Anything that you actually need to read has an overlay in easy to read English font. The rest of the text is just random names geographic features. You don't really need to know what the name of the lake you're standing near is, but if you want you can go to FFXIVmaps and see it all translated into simple roman letters. Learning the script isn't hard either.

I have a feeling come 2.0 if they even continue to use the script, they'll be smart and not fail to include overlays on anything they mark. (Hopefully)
