Leveling around GridianaFollow

I decided to poke around Gridania as the first area to test in the Beta, and I've run into a bit of a problem. After I hit level 13 Thaumaturge, the Thistletail Marmots become decidedly less than adequate in providing exp and skill, but the only other monsters around are galagos (which are green/blue but have an insanely strong drop kick move that you can only run away to avoid, making them take forever to kill) and some wolves and anglers, both yellow/green, which hit WAY harder than previous things that were yellow/green.

I can manage to take the wolves and anglers out every couple of minutes when punishing barbs comes back up, but otherwise, it's slow going at this point. Has anyone had better luck? Are the monsters easier on a different job, or are there monsters that are middle ranged between marmots +1 and wolves that aren't monkeys (maybe near the other cities)?

Are you geared up? green is probably too hard for you because your gear doesnt match your rank.
This is a big thing in RPGs, when you start getting owned by mobs its time to gear up.

There are some things that con orange (and sometimes red) that are easier to defeat than greens. Often times I'll find a suitable camp on the way to a guildleve area and then just not use the crystal to return to camp. Walking back if the mobs end up too hard you get a free death return back to camp.

Sorry I don't have any specifics as I'm only level 9 atm and when I got level 15ish I was in Limsa.

My gear's fair. I've crafted myself some nice level 6-10ish cloth items and am wearing a higher level hat that I got from a guildleve, so I dunno if that's the problem. Still could be.

I'll look around near the level 20 camp. The wolves outside the 2nd camp here are the ones that are really strong, and the only other thing hanging around are marmots, which give about 200-250 exp and 35 skill points, on average. The wolves give around 800 exp, but if I don't have Punishing Barbs up so they kill themselves, I die in about two hits :D
