Everyone who's currently playing this game is a fanboy believe it or not. Everyone who comes to these forums and posts here is most likely a fanboy deep down. There's a lot more fanboys than you'd think, the thing is the game they want to believe in so bad has a lot of flaws. Think of it as the same situation as to why parents will yell and discipline their kids when they do something wrong. It's because they love them, just as we love and want to love this game. We find many little faults about it and are loud in voicing them to Square Enix in hopes that our voices will be heard and they will fix things for the better. The people who will defend absolutely anything without questioning it are the same ones who do so in the real world. I won't get further into it but let's just call them "closed minded" which often spawns by their own insecurities and inability to comprehend complexity.
There's a lot of things I find wrong with the game currently, there's no denying it but I don't think there's anything "uncool" about saying you like it. All the frustrating things aside and all of Square Enix's completey blatant laziness on so many things the game itself is a masterpiece.
It looks absolutely amazing, it plays well, the character creation is great (and I assume we'll have more variables to it come retail launch), the story even so far is absolutely amazing, the cities are designed amazingly, the armor looks absolutely stunning and it's all just a bunch of low level newbie armor so far. The game also feels like you can play it more at your own pace and not have to worry about things so much or feel like it's such a job, hopefully it stays this way.
The game itself has an absolute metric ton of potential, Square Enix just needs to get some of their ducks in a row and stop being stupid, lazy or in-denial about some issues.
Long Live Vana Diel.
