Here's my reply to the other download issues. As long as you're okay with some outside torrent program usage and some dragging/dropping, you should hopefully have success with this. I haven't tested it today, as I'm at work for another 7 hours, but give it a shot. It worked for yesterday's patch.

1. Open the FFXIV open Beta client, allow it to get to the step where it begins downloading files. This will ensure you have the torrents downloaded on your computer.

2. Open whatever application you use for downloading torrents. If you do not use one already, I would suggest uTorrent ( www.utorrent.com ). In Utorrent, File > add torrent. Point Utorrent to the following:
Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\metainfo

UPDATE: The patch folder this time around may be "bca2a8ae" so the above path may be, "Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\metainfo". I'm not at home to confirm, so my apologies for any confusion here.

In the metainfo folder you will find files that have the same name as the patch your FFXIV was trying to download. Select these files, and hit open.

3. Utorrent will now begin downloading these files to your computer. Based on your internet connection and security settings this should take less than 5 minutes. By default Utorrent downloads to the "downloads" folder in your documents folder. After it is complete there will be a folder called D96437e6, inside of this folder there will be a folder called patch, and inside the patch folder, there will be the actual patches

4.Copy these files to Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\d96437e6\patch

UPDATE: The patch folder this time around may be "bca2a8ae" so the above path may be, "Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads\ffxiv-beta\bca2a8ae\patch". I'm not at home to confirm, so my apologies for any confusion here.

5. Open FFXIV, it will try to patch again, realize it already has the information, and prompt you to log in.

6. Win.

The 94.6 stall is in downloading the the torrent file itself, not the latter :/

I went with the uTorrent suggestion and it works 100%! It took less then 30 seconds to get the last annoying few percent of the update. Right now I'm leaving my uTorrent up to help seed for the rest of the ZAM community. Right now it's uploading at 350kB/s. :D

Note: Looks like 2 patches this time.

Did they change the background color on the downloader? I thought it was blue yesterday, but both my wifes and mine are red/purple this time.... maybe I just need more sleep....

Why on earth are people using Torrents for this small download? Use what's up on Megaupload and be done with it.. takes 5 seconds to download it.

I've said this in 3 different threads now but people keep flocking to the torrents. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

I think the red/purple background is for the patch for the updater. Then it'll switch to blue and download a patch for the actual game. Two separate downloads today.

Yay! Thank you so much Ridere! I remembered seeing this yesterday and about the time I was going to do it, my game finished patching, so I went on to play. However, I had downloaded Utorrent. I was trying to remember where I saw your info before and couldn't find it. I'm going to add this info to my favorites!

Woot! Thanks again!

Actually there appears to be a file going by patch name under the file bca2a8ae does that matter. Can you use this file? I am pretty computer stupid so I would hate to ***** up the program.

False alarm; just let it download for a while and it should go through. It did for me, and I had the endless 94.8% error last night.

The update doesn't currently seem to work, however, as they're still doing maintenance.

This guide is a few days old. As someone mentioned before. It may not be in the exact "d96437e6" folder I mentioned. You may have to do some hunting around to find the right folder name now, but the basic principles still remain. And it looks like there's some direct download options, as well.

Just remember, if you're looking for the folder/file to load in utorrent, always look for the one with today's date, or create/edit/modify timestamps of today's date. So you don't have to waste time downloading an old patch.

Hope you all get in a lot faster today :)

Nah, you get the torrent file all right, it's just in the other directory first (for the boot loader) and then there's another one in the usual directory.

Let's see if it fixes it... Nope! The title screen still needs three billion instructions per second to display two buttons using some generic form/template software!

Well, the problem in this one is simply that most of the files being downloaded are around 4 to 8 megabytes - however, there is one file that is 4.70 GIGabytes. That one of course is taking a long while to download, even with torrent. So I guess we'll just have to sit this one out for a while.

So what is this? Does the client updater stop seeding once the client gets 100%? No one will ever get their update file to 100% through the updater unless SE keeps the updater active to seed the file a little longer.

Well I've had the game downloading for the first time last night in like 16+ hours, I went up an awesome amount of... 1.6%. Apperently my g/f said when I called to check up that it has gone up to .2%, does anyone know if this had been cause by the recent update issues.

Well honestly, if it's still not working, you did it wrong. They have to go into the folder corresponding to either the updater or the game itself. You can tell by which folder has a metainfo folder containing a .torrent file with the same name. Did you also close the client when you tossed them in?

EDIT: This is in response to the people who download or torrent the patch files, but still cannot get it to work.

The ones from the megaupload link are labeled and I put them in the corresponding folders. So unless they are mislabeled on megaupload, something else is wrong.
