Game crashes when I press StartFollow

): It was working fine before. Though it crashed after I created my character and tried to enter the world.
Now after a new update, it's crashing every time I press Start. What the ****? Seriously!

My computer can easily handle the game, everything is updated but it just won't let me play it!
Is it because I did the updates manually? Maybe I ****** it up.

That is sooo unfair! I've been trying to play this beta since it were released, but there have been so many problems that have resulted in me waiting days to update files and them days to download them manually, included a billion crashes along the way.
): I just want to play it for an hour, that's all I want. Now I have to wait ANOTHER day. I spent all my off work days trying to figure this out.

The furthest I've gotten to is creating a character, I suppose that's all I'm going to get to do at this rate.
I heard the game is crap anyway. Meh.

Offline server will NOT cause your client to crash. Its not error codes. Its a full client crash.

Yes they will if there is a bug in the client that causes it. There is, so offline servers will cause your client to crash sometimes.

Last easy question, what do the chocobo's mean in the World list? Popularity or difficulty?

I'm now having the client crashing every time I get to the character select screen. Everything was OK yesterday, and I logged off before the server maintenance.

I've downloaded the patch, and I'm unable to get any further than clicking 'Start' and seeing the background for the char select screen. I'm running it in windowed mode now, so I can at least kill the application from the task manager.

Is this just me, or is anyone else experiencing it? I'll update my GPU drivers this evening and see if that has any effect.

There's another maintenance going on right now...

Are people really this silly that they cant check when maintenance happens, and post that the game is crashing instead?

talk about the Sky is Falling Syndrome

@kithap - I had about 10 minutes at lunchtime, and I wanted to take a screen shot to show a friend at work. I tried loading it a couple of times and then I had to go back to work (web access is very restricted there).

Silly? Maybe you think so. I'll tell you what I think is silly - a game client that crashes instead of displaying a message saying servers are offline.

p.s. I thought the sky looked fine ;)

Just wondered if there was anywhere we could check when there is maintenance? I cannot get on to the beta forums, even though I have an open beta key - but I think this is the same for all open beta people?
Would be lovely to know where I could find out! I know its only until Sunday but there you go :)

If you have your key and everything inputted properly, then you should be able to view the main announcements on the website here. You can't post anything on the forms but you can still see some of the parts and it will announce maintenance.

This link is much easier to use. No login required and has upcoming maintenance, patch notes, etc listed.
