At first the game was unplayable. However a few video tweaks reduced the lag to managable proportions. Surprising considering that WOW, Aion, Lotro all work well at maximum video settings. Whether or not I will be able to play the full game is unknown at present. Not really wanting to buy an expensive video card if I don't need to.

Pleased to see that SE got rid of Playonline as well as implimenting a torrent type updater similar to WOW, Aion, Etc. There have been problems with it so far, but that should be easily fixed.

Although not quite as extensive as Aion, the character creator does an excellent job of creating custom characters.

Game seems to allow Alt-Tab, although at present it causes DX error and crashes program. Note to SE: I hope you finally understand the need of a Windows game to uh "window", as well as to get along with other programs that are normally found on a PC such as security software.

Those of you familiar with LoTRO will recognize the opening instanced story line.

Death seem similar to FFXI in that you get a choice of being raised or returning to bind point. Apparetly going with equipment damage model. Another gill sink

No Auction House or Mail system yet. Hoping for WOW style mail boxes.

So far the gameplay has been confusing. While Melee/ Mage classes are easily understood I cannot understand what the other two classes are about. Things like crafting and fishing don't make sense. I can equip a fishing pole, but I can't seem to use it. While we are on the subject, why do equipped items take up inventory space?

So far looks like interesting game. Does seem SE learned a few things. However definitly an unpolished work.

You can run the game in windowed mode. You need to go to the config file to set it. Performance is usually better windowed as well.

Right now I don't even care about AH but for the love of god give us the party seeking system...I hate the recruitment system because nobody uses it...i wanna know who wants to party so i can invite them instead of shouting to illiterates asking them to party.

Yes I know. What I mean is that FFXI has a very crappy windowed mode. Too many times I have been knocked out of the game by a firewall/AV message or just browsing. We didn't even get that until Vista forced them to come up with a windowed mode.

Many things in the game aren't very intuitive. There a few things that use the menu to activate actions/select items. The following things that I've experienced so far require opening the menu and selecting to interact with them :
Aetheryte crystals to initiate Leves and interact with in general (you can't click it)
Getting through the gate in places like the Ferry Docks (you have to be close)
Mining, Harvesting, Fishing, etc.

To fish you have to equip the rod in main hand (like the starter Weathered Fishing Rod), the secondary item in off hand (like the Bronze Gig), and the bait. Equipping the rod turns you into the Fishing class. When you are near water, open your menu and select the fish option that will appear above your normal menu items.

(just going from memory here)
At this point you select the depth you want to cast to with the slider (take a guess based on the depth of the water you are near).
Now you choose to wait. This will cast your line and allow you to wait for a fish to bite.
If you don't get a bite, try changing the depth that you chose in the beginning.
Most times you will feel a 'nibble' on the line. If this happens, choose to wait again from the menu. This might happen more than once. Only when you feel a 'bite' on the line do you want to continue. When you feel a bite, choose the 'Jig' option and select a direction using the slider that is going back and forth (you are just guessing here).
Now you will get one of a few potential results:
The fish is taking line, or a great deal of line: Try to jig in the other direction than the first direction you guessed with initially.
The fish is tired, but you can't reel it in: Try Jigging the exact same spot as you did last time, you just need to hit it once again in that spot to catch the fish.
You take in a great deal of line: I'm honestly not exactly sure what to do for this.
You lost the fish (it will tell you what kind): You didn't figure it out in time (every one of these actions you choose takes down your Stamina meter a little bit, so you only get so many tries).

Again, these are my guesses based on the little fishing I have done. Once you get past the awkward menu it's actually fun. Mining is very similar and I assume harvesting is as well (haven't tried yet).
