Additionally, I don't think I went 30 minutes in the last 8 hours without some kind of cutscene. Those cutscenes are parts of the story element that makes Final Fantasy a better series of games than the average MMO. Those cutscenes give you direction and push you on from quest to quest. It's called "Stopping and smelling the roses". You're not doing that if your looking for camps of mobs to EXP off of in a Beta.

And those cut scenes could seriously use some voice acting.

^ I agree.. where are the BioWare voice actors and Guild Wars Voice actors when you need 'em..

I can read but it strains the eye.. and I have enough reading in freaking class.. What was FFXIV thinking when they decided not to implement voice in to like the majority of their cut scenes.. (Yes I know this is beta.. but so far the ratio of voice to no voice is still very bad)...

Aion had absolute **** poor cutscenes.. but at least they have voice.. God dam SE get on it.. Don't turn this in to a lousy low budget crap look-alike T-T ... i.e. every other free MMO in the market..

Beta =/= "play FFXIV for free". I'd prefer NOT to learn about the storyline while it's still in beta, it's supposed to be about fine tuning the core of the game to make it the most fun it can be. I never saw the intro cutscenes to the other two cities still, and I'm going to keep it that way until I actually play (if ever).

Just in response to comments a number of people have made; what's wrong with the UI?

Aside from the chat bar being not being prominent enough, I love it. The UI styles of say Aion/WAR/WoW always upset me. Constant reminder that it's a game and not a world; and always looked tacky.

I suppose I could be interpreting from the POV of aesthetics, and you could be disliking it for other reasons?

ha... what server are you playing on? we should get ftb back together =p

Edit: I personally love the UI styles of FFXI and FFXIV as I hate my screen cluttered with all sorts of add-ons and rediculous buttons.
I'm sure that on release some of, if not all the lag will be gone. I don't mind a few extra menus here and there. It never bothered me in FFXI since most things are macro-able.
