I foresee alot of people having 2 Characters. We were doing this last night worked so well. After all the GL are gone one of your pt members logs out makes a new CHAR and bam new GL. But you need to remember you can only get lvl 1 and 10 GL. The bones is you get loads of gil that you give to your main char. When all those GL are done you go back on your main and some one else from the pty logs out and does the same thing.

Now you have ifinate GL you can do all night and you'll make some good Gil in the process.

Looked around some, but has SE said the "8 in 48 hour period onry!" is going to apply come release? I'm under the assumption that they've limited us for beta since they don't want everyone at level 30 (or whatever the current cap is) in a day or 3.

This is probably what I will do if I decide play, I wanted to make two characters anyway.
The system most likely wouldn't affect me because of how much time I would play, especially with two characters.
That doesn't change how I feel about Surplus or the fact that it will suck for people who do play more though.

Sounds like a lot of extra hassle with little incentive. Instead of gaining exp on your main character you're getting it on the other. In the retail version the extra character will be $3/month. And I guess you'd need a good friend to trade the money to and then have them trade it back to the other character. Seems like grinding/farming instead would yield similar results gil-wise and you'd always be leveling your main character.

The thing is, guildleves aren't the be all and end all of the game, as it stands. They help you level up by giving guardian's favor, but they're a limited system. Other than guardian's favor, the only bonus is an occasional minor reward item and some gil. It breaks up the grind, but getting a second character just to do more guildleves? It doesn't really make sense. All you need is a party of five friends or so. That's 20 guildleves that everyone can participate in. After 20 guildleves, I think you'll be pretty well sick of them. No need to level two characters or pay an extra monthly fee.

At the moment we're doing 8 per city everyday. Don't know if its from daily maint. resetting it or if thats what they are trying in this part of beta. I spent all day doing em between 7 people and now we all have new ones.

They gave one of their typically evasive answers that they're "looking into adjusting the time" but as it stands they're intending on 48 hours come retail.

Personally I'd like to see something between 24 and 36 hours. I feel that'd be more reasonable than 48. Or stay at 48 but raise the amount one can do.

i can understand people wanting to find a way around. probably the better way would be to just only have one character pull GL at a time (you have a group of 4. well...one person pulls all 8 GL that day no one else activates them from the person but all join in) next day someone else, etc. they really dont take long though. and i think more are being released especially for release date.

i think this limit and all is great for me...i dont want FFXIV to take up my life. I got a real life to take care of and I like the idea of a game where playing a little now and then is good for me.

as for the surplus. you gotta play over 8 hours consecutively to activate it...seriously. if you play only 3 hours a day you should never run into an issue (it decreases over time). and if you are wanting to play 8+ hours a day every day...then you got more problems then a surplus to worry about. no offense but. its a game. not a job ;)

I'm sure they will have something similar to a delivery box like they did in FFXI, if not I would find a way around it.

It probably wouldn't effect me equipment wise either because I would level mage jobs and melee jobs on separate characters so I could max attributes and such.

One of the ways to send yourself money is have your retainer sell a lame item for a lot of gil then on your 2nd go to said retainer and buy that item. or sell a couple at 2,3,4k. But you guys get what i'm saying. I thought i would throw out what the LS was doing last night and how we were making a killing on exp and gil.

Well when it goes live you get 1 character slot. each additional character will cost an additional 3$ per month.
