It's announced, declared as an emergency maintenance to fix the problems players were having trying to log in.

I'm surprised for the amount of hate this game is getting its amazing the turn up of people when servers go down hurting to get back online :P...anyway its all good, servers crash it happens lets wait it out and hope that they iron out some stuff while they're doing this and meanwhile lets talk about what we want in FFXIV OTHER than technical stuff.

I knew I should have gone out tonight instead of coming home after work. Seems like every time I get off the servers are down by the time I get home. Smiley: glare

I agree theirs are a lot of people saying this game is not for them and yet they keep playing it..lol. Ya we all know the issues with the game Targeting for one is a pain but i digress.
I'm realling enjoying the game and i know they will iron out a lot of these issues for launch and if not.. well then soon after. I will be the guy getting the CE and Server maintenance that comes with it and i'm fine with that.

It's our new drug. Sure it may not be mainstream like the other online drugs, but we still get that buzz and wake in the morning hating ourselves for going at it all night.

has SE done any advertising for XIV? I see spots for WoW all the time but I have yet to see anything for XIV.

That that is known as Final Fantasy needs no advertisement.

Edit: I am sure this is SE's thought on marketing, lol. Which... is kind of true. SE makes an online game and calls it Final Fantasy and people learn about it by simply looking into what the next FF is all about. Blizzard and who ever makes Eve Online make a MMO and no one knows unless they market it. Everyone complains about the lack of advertisement, as did I but then I relised they are actually smart in not wasting money in advertisement because they are in a unique and conveted position in that people the FF is so popular people just hear/find out about it through word of mouth.

I'd hazard a guess that more people follow what Blizzard does than what SE does. Blizzard spends big money on marketing because they live in forts made out of cash. It's called "branding".

I would hazard you are right because SE is stupid when it comes to marketing and customer relations...or they just don't care about its overseas audience, which is also stupid. That company can double and triple its yearly income if they had the foresight to see what a little advertisement can do for you.

When it comes to advertising ************** the one company that always comes to mind is Bioware. Now you may disagree with me on this but I found Dragon Age ugly outdated on every level by today's standard of games (I understand people liked it, I didn't, i'm not bringing this up to fight over who is right and who is wrong) but holy man did Bioware have me sold on the game. I was so sure i'd love the game when I bought it because they advertised up their *** releasing footage after trailer after interview of all the things in this amazing world of theirs! I can hate on them for making a bad game but they are **** good at promoting their product, SE is decades behind the times. **** my parents recently opened a no name restaurant (no name as in no one knows squat about it) and business was iffy at best, they ended up making about 3000 flyers and distributing them to the closest neighbourhood - the 3000 flyers alone cost about $1000 in total, that money was made back in two days and sales have seen an increase of 100% since. Small things can go really go a long way, no matter how big a company is...i think of fast food corporations too - i mean who doesn't know McDonald's? everyone does, yet you see a commercial on TV every 3 minutes ramming it into your brain that McDonald's still exists.

true, we all know mcdonalds makes tons of commercials, and everytime i see one i think "cute commercial... i'm still not gonna eat there"

commercials only go so far.
and the ff brand is already well known, those that are gonna play 14 know about it already.

Lol you're kidding right? you think they would make commercials if they're not gaining? its all about return on investment, can you guess how much a commercial costs to produce, let alone cost to air every hour on the hour on god knows how many channels how many times? maybe you hate McDonalds and I hate McDonalds but for every person that hates it about a 100 don't although their food sucks imo but that's the power of advertising. imo, word of mouth "can only go so far"...you may have a dedicated fan base that will come back each and every time but in order to grow one must go after a larger demographic.
