Again, you either accept what is given at release, or wait to see what happens with oncoming patches. The bugs however, will be fixed eventually and that is all I really care about. I will be in-game having fun, but if I stop having fun, I will speak with my wallet. I suggest you do the same.

This thread has gone off topic. The derailment into speculation over gameplay mechanics is not something I will waste my time with anymore. Plus the banners on this website are killing my browser. Good day.

You have taken a courageous stand here tonight.

Bugs will quite possibly be fixed eventually, and gameplay may or may not be adjusted sometime in the future as the whims of the players warrant. Games will get better in time. Based on these variables of what might be fixed, might be looked at, and might not ever be changed, players may decide whether or not to pay for the service. These sorts of vague platitudes are accurate about every game ever released, and do not do anyone a service if they're thinking of playing -- or continuing playing -- FFXIV.

Since I've apparently driven the thread off-topic, I'd like to bring it back on the rails:

1. What do you feel is the most game-breaking bug at the moment, and do you think it will be fixed upon release?
2. How many bugs are you willing to put up with -- and for how long -- until you stop giving SE the benefit of the doubt?
3. Do you ever think that unflinchingly paying for unfinished games ultimately causes more games to be released in an unfinished state?

Look you and I agree on pretty much everything else you said. But I absolutely abhor this argument. Not only that but you picked an example that doesn't even make any sense. Having to pay a toll to get to and from work each day (why aren't you buying a pass?) is a necessity. Playing a video game is not

I don't really understand why you're upset about what he said. The guy he was responding to was complaining about a monthly fee. He noted that XIV is cheaper than the majority of other MMO's, and further pointed out that for all the complaints about a monthly subscription, people will blow WAY more on other things w/o a second thought.

Not to mention, a Toll road is NOT required to get to work. That's what access roads are for.

Just because you don't like the terminology Mik, doesn't make the term "toon" wrong. They're toons. They're animated characters, and no matter how much you wanna argue it, even the most adult animation in the world still a "cartoon".

Anyone using 'toon' is importing terminology from an outside source. The devs refer to them as 'Characters' and thus it IS the correct term.

Also, I don't think you could feasibly argue that 'cartoon' is appropriate for any sort of animation. Cartoon has the connotation of being childish, and it's not really right to lump all animation in to that. That's like saying an artist using a wacom board and an artist using water colors are using the same medium. Yeah in the end it's all art, but there is most certainly a difference between the two.

You drew me back in with this.

1. Most game breaking bug I expect to be fixed at release or shortly after has to be the issues I experience with fullscreen mode. I believe that to be most pressing, above all others. If I cannot start the game in its intended format, then what is the point of putting any more trust in the game beyond that. I believe this will be fixed first with the initial patch we all will have to dl on opening day. I may be wrong, but it is something I could not imagine that would not be looked into as the first fix needed.

2. Depends. I will be playing with friends of mine and my wifes from all over the world. As long as they play and we still have fun, I will continue to play no matter the bugs. The key is, as long as I am enjoying myself, I can put up with a lot.

3. I know this as the inevitable outcome of something that snuck into the gaming culture a long time ago. Companies can only get away with this scheme as long as they either fix the game, or create a fun enough game where people will put up with it. A good example of this is Fallout 3. I had the most fun with this game, but it is by far the buggiest piece of software I have ever witnessed.

Edit: What about you?

When I think cartoon I think of a 2D animated production, or game. Things like Futurama, The Simpsons, Family Guy. Unless a video game is using a cartoon filter I don't think of it as cartoonish. These would be games like the DBZ Budokai games, Team Fortress, or Champions Online. I don't consider 3D animations to be cartoons. For instance, I would call the Ice Age movies 3D Animated films, not cartoons.
