I just need to be reminded what they are, as someone got a link to the definitions. I had a quick look but couldn't find the link again. Cheers!

VIT and (I'm assuming) MND also contribute to your total HP and MP respectively.

Haha, I kinda feel like being sent back to RO in 2001 when I started playing that. Totally messed up my stats because I had no clue. Granted, it was my first MMO and deciding on a job came rather spontaneous (being a mage with STR can be fun, too).

Anyways! What I keep wondering about these day is...what stats are important for my class? Not like a guide telling me to put 30 points into that and 50 into that exactly. But I started as a lancer, I think it appeals to me. But...like, do we need VIT at all? Is STR more important or DEX? And if I switched to let's say pugilist, what then? Okay, now I feel like a complete newbie and it's not like I'm asking for exact amounts, just a general idea would be nice. Or is it mostly trial and error so far? I also keep reading that stats don't have a too great impact on performance. But...they sure must be playing some bigger role, otherwise they could just be set automatically.

Hope it made enough sense, thankies.

I've just been doing an even spread between STR, DEX, and VIT since I don't intend on using a magic-based class.

Hmm okies, guess I'll try that for now. Been doing mostly STR>DEX and nearly no VIT because I wasn't sure how important it is as a lancer.

About stats, what do those elemental stats mean?

I've heard 2 things: resistance and that it also ups your elemental attack damage.

What part of that is true? I've spend like 30 into 1 element and tried using the same type of element for damage check but I didn't notice any difference.

Mind = Blown

I guess that you would not see a huge improvement on lower level spells? (We do get Fira Firaga etc? :O)

yeah I was skimping on mind... then I realized it is directly tied to mp levels. No more skimping.

remember you can also reallocate your stats so you are not trapped in the decisions you make.

I've actually been going into DEX more than STR or VIT for my melee build. Trying to make a DPS melee. I think DEX is most important, leveled Marauder to 10 in CB and at the low levels monsters evaded my attacks A LOT. Once I hit physical 10 I switched to Lancer and with that DEX at lower levels it seemed I got evaded much less. I think DEX is most important for DPS, probably VIT, DEX, and MND for a tank I would think. If you want to stay alive the longest you need a lot of HP, ability to dodge physical, and resistance to spells. Don't know how much you would need into each, still don't know enough about how the mobs will be, but this is just my opinion.

Yea Scribe, me knows. Was just trying to get a general idea, and now I feel much better about experimenting with stats. Like everything makes more sense to me. Thanks everybody for sharing your information / opinion. ^^

And I never know which resistances to boost, but I guess it doesn't really matter unless you know mob A uses evil fire or ice spells and skills (or you're a mage yourself). I also can't decide if the evil poison spore attack thingie is water based or earth maybe? Because seriously...crawler times are over, now it's Gridanian mushrooms kicking yer ****. o.o;;

I shall quote: "You defeat you!" I think that was the message upon going poof from poison. Too funny the first time I noticed! And it sure adds a reason to buy the game. I can already see it: "Final Fantasy XIV Online, the only game where you can defeat yourself without even noticing! Now that's some sneaky skills."

Haha yea, just being silly a bit.

Don't the elemental stats also affect things like crafting or repairing? Makes sense that the elemental affinity of the crystal you are using would be influenced by your stats.

Wow, way to resurrect an old thread :) I was going to post a new thread about this, but this one works. I have been wondering.. which stats currently do anything significant and which ones are pretty much worthless/ broken. The only stats from gear that seem to make any difference ar HP,MP, attack, evasion, and defense? Anyone else feel differently? From my experience, here is what I have seen with absolutely no data to back it up (has anyone tested ANY stat for this game?):

Strength - noticable difference in attack
Vitality- More HP, no noticable difference in defense
Mind- More MP, doesn't seem to do much else
Int- nothing? Should be more magic damage, but people have told me its broken?
Peity- magic accuracy, less resists, but would be good to test
Dexterity- more criticals? Seems not so great to me.. doesn't seem to help with accuracy

As far as the elements, they seem worthless ATM, although there is a definite correlation to the type of crystal you get based on your affinity. I did actually test this.

Well theres my opinion and questions.. what are yours?
