Dunno if anyone has run into this yet, but there seems to be an issues when a mob dies to a DoT you get no experience. I have encountered this while fighting Snapping Shrew's on my Marauder. Use Skull Sunder as first TP skill, whittle its HP down and poof no exp.

Is this happening with all classes that have DoT's, is it just this particular mob or have I misunderstood the exp gaining process?

Any info would be appreciated

I see the random Axe points, but when the mob dies (from a DoT) no extra Axe points or exp. and I always target them when they pop back out so I can try and finish them quickly and move on.

A few clarifications:

-Often the game's chat will lag out and never display the resulting Physical and class XP at the end of a fight, DoT or no DoT.
-There are no "extra" Axe points at the end of a battle. All the points you see there are the sum of those listed during the combat itself, which aren't granted until you actually win the fight. Check it for yourself, but if you are 500/6000 marauder, hit mobs and get 21, 24 and 30 xp, with 75 at the end, you actually gain 75 (575/6000), not 150 (21+24+30+75).

As to randomly not displaying Exp at the end because of chat lag, this is the only instance I have noticed where it does this. Have not really had "chat lag" that I am aware of.

And while you may be correct about the way the Axe skill point add up, it wasn't the issue at hand.

I will kill some more and check my exp/skill points to see if indeed the chat is "lagging" or if in fact there is no reward for having defeated them. gimme a few to check

Ok. took a few minutes to reproduce, and there may be another element in it.

Whittle the shrew's HP down and while the DoT is still on them, they go underground. Second later they pop up, re-target, see they have only a sliver of life and the Dot is still on them try to attack. If mob dies before an attack lands (killed by dot) no xp or skill points. Checked my total before each fight and after. If I get an attack to land and kill them xp is mine.

So it may not be a Dot bug, but a mechanic of this mobs move. Dunno how to explain it really, other than might need that extra hit just to confirm its yours and you killed it.

Anyone run into this with any other mobs? I haven't encountered it with anything other than the shrew to my knowledge.

I've had that happen to me against mobs that don't burrow as well. Made me stop using Skull Sunder at low health unless it was going to kill the target outright.

Oddly, I've died of a DoT after I killed the mob (everything in Gridania poisons you ._.) and the message I got was "You defeat you" ...

That sounds about right, I often defeat myself. xD
