I am having an odd problem with my graphics. I have a good computer setup, and FFXIV looks very nice. Except for one small problem:

The shadows look very off. Rather then being a soft transition from light to dark, there are these odd parallel lines. The odd part is that the shadows on the clothes and scenery look fine, I really only see this problem on the faces. Does anybody else have this problem, and if so, do you know what settings to change?

I noticed the same thing. Shadows just aren't very good.

Same here. I have everything set on max and I still get that odd banding of shadows. I just turn them off.

Its an issue with their shadowing technique - the way shadows are implemented causes artifacts like that on curved surfaces. It's most apparent on faces because there's little other shading to hide the artifacts, but if you look closely you can see it on clothing as wee - just look near that character's armpits.

Happens on my wife's G72GX laptop as well, she just turned character shadows off in the in game options. I'm thinking about turning them off on my desktop as well even though they show up right, looks kind of nice without them.
