I'm planning on building a PC near March to play FFXIV with my husband on his PS3. I'd like to purchase the collector's edition for all the goodies, but then stare at it longingly on my shelf until March.

Will I be able to wait that long to redeem the Onion Helm, 30-day free pass, adventurer certificate, and 30-day buddy pass?

Thank you kindly!

You should be just fine. The clock doesn't start ticking on any of that until you have actually opened it, loaded it to your computer, registered you game and start playing. Anyone at any time in the future may buy the game, regular or collectors (yes, even collectors because sometimes people pre-order them and then never pick them up) and when they buy the game, no matter when they do, Square Enix still has to honor the contract that comes with the purchase of the game.

So no worries! You'll have all you are supposed to get no matter when you decide to fire it up.

I hope having it sitting there waiting for you doesn't torture you too much. ;-)

well, i think for an MMO its safe. however, on the box it could say "good until..." it will say it on the box though. like i got dragon age and the free DLC already expired. something to take note of. but for an MMO i think its fine. due to a different kind of service

Thanks for your responses! I won't worry about it then. I'll go ahead and pre-order it and check the box as well for details. :]

A year or so ago I found a collectors edition of an expansion to EQII, which included a pewter bear mount and a bear mount in game for every character you have or create. That was months after the expansion had come out and I still got everything, including the 30 days.

Its some thing that just automatically comes with your game code. The only kind I could think that might expire would be the ones offered by the stores themselves. But in the collectors edition, the onion helm comes with the game, so you'll get that as well as everything else the box mentions.

Even the buddy trials are always accepted, as any MMO is always happy to have more players, so they don't mind giving away a few days of free play. =)

That's good to know! I can't wait to play -- this will be a long 6 months for sure! At least I'll be starting it up with my husband though, and grad school will keep me busy in the meantime.

Thanks again for your clarification Mimotep!

onion helm is I believe a pre-release only item. as long as you get a code for it, it should work.
