Does anyone else get constant lag?

yup

constant yellow connection
jumpy loading in city due to connection (freezeframe every 5 seconds while running across city and loading new cells/npcs/etc. similar loading delay as in morrowind or oblivion)
takes 5 seconds to go into active/passive mode

you cant really play the game because it takes so long to do simple things. you feel like youre telling your character what to do, rather than actually being your character. SE needs to fix this or i wont (Cant) play

Yes, everyone does.
Due to server side UI, some issue that is eating up a full core of a CPU all the time (I'm hoping it's the beta debugger runnign in the background) and for some it has to do with PC setups.

I'm putting my money on the second one though. My CPU hates this game right now, I'm really really hoping that it is only due to the beta.

Open beta is a stress test on the servers so you should expect lag. Also expect the servers to possibly be overly bogged down in the first month or so after release. That way if they aren't you'll just be happy.

EDIT

Mine doesn't do this. All four cores of my CPU stay at pretty much the exact same levels as they go up and down. Which is weird because this isn't the case with most other apps/games.

the past 2 months have been stress testing. the fact that servers are still THIS bad, to the point where NA users cannot play unless you live on the west coast, shows that SE will not fix this. The 'beta' excuse is not a logical one to believe at this point in time.

Interesting. Well I guess you're one of the lucky ones. I hope we can figure out what is causing this or that SE can figure it out before we do. (Yeah, right.)

No they haven't... Closed Beta wasn't stress testing at all until B3, which was used as a stress test to prepare for Open Beta where they would stress test even harder. There was an interview where SE said that they would be pushing the servers and opening up more and more as the Open Beta goes to see how they handle it.

Oh please, all anybody heard during closed beta was "it's only really laggy because its a stress test"

everybody's been saying stress test this, stress test that since OB started. Now everyone's saying "okay, NOW is the ACTUAL stress test"

perhaps when the game comes out, everyone will say "its laggy, but they're stress testing to see how the servers will handle the ps3 influx in march"

then once ps3 is released, everybody will say "its laggy, but they're stress testing for the upcoming expansion"

I don't really notice any lag, but then again I don't think I've experienced anything in the game that was very dependent on latency.

They'll go to a client side UI eventually, if not on retail launch, some time after that. There's too much overhead(or whatever computer jargon is appropriate) in keeping the UI on the server end.

when you go into active/inactive mode, does it only take a second or so? or is it 3-4 seconds like most people
