I don't know if this thread has already been made, if it has, feel free to lock it...BUT if it hasn't, which city-state do you plan to start off in when the game officially launches? I personally like all 3, they all have their quirks, but it would be interesting to see other people's opinions.

I haven't seen Gridania yet but I've made up my mind on Ul'Dah, I love the city and surrounding area much more than LL although Limsa is a sweet city itself but dunno its no competition for me. It wouldn't matter much in the end anyway since the cities are close to one another, I'm glad they are too, much more convenient.

Ul'dah (assuming I buy the game). I started in Gridania but prefer Ul'dah. As well, well guilds are implemented to serve a purpose, I'd rather have direct access to the ones I'll be making most frequent use of early on (gladiator, blacksmith, armorsmith).

Yeah we've played this game many times, but it's been a while. I'm still probably gonna start in Ul'dah, awesome place and if I get really into a craft it may be weaving. The only reason I'd change that is if I suddenly learned that being near the guilds matters more later, I'm starting to have way too much fun with conjurer so if it benefited me I'd put up with the new Windy.

Hmm...so far everybody is for Uldah. It must be all the NPCs wanting to sleep with you haha.

When the game officially launches my Miqo'te is gonna start in Gridania and my Hyur M is gonna start in Ul'dah. For the beta though I wanted to get a general feel of the game without ruining the sense of awe at new areas when it launches for real, so both of them are currently from Limsa Lominsa. Works for me. :)

I always thought I would start in Gridania, I always had a soft spot for Widurst in FFXI. But after playing around in Ul'dah yesterday I am now totally confused about where to start. Maybe I will have two characters one in each.

I chose Ul'dah because of the character I'm creating (Sunseeker gladiator). I thought once I saw Gridania that the decision would be tough but the lay out in Ul'dah is just too convenient. It's the new Bastok for me. Everything is just a few steps away. Gridania was huge and filled with corridors like Windurst. Really cool, but not in to spending so much time running around to complete mundane tasks. Limsa Lominsa almost made me consider not even playing. Cool looking city, but even worse than Gridania for convenience factor.

I don't know I just love Ul'dah. It's like Bastok Rabao 2.0 :D

One of my favorite games is morrowind just to kind of put in perspective my tolerance for travel time. I was planning on Gridania but the more I play beta in Limsa Lominsa the more attached I become to the city.

Are you on Kashuan by any chance in a LS called Something Witty?

NM just saw your signature, i swear someone in my LS said the *exact* same words to me about Ul'Dah...I didn't find Bastok that compact tbh but maybe its because I didn't find Sandy too inconvenient, I loved Sandy that is why I'm picking Ul'Dah, its atmosphere kinda reminds me of it.
